Violence against animals photo

serious drawer says:

Many Flickr members are very offended and disgusted by the the violent depiction in this sign in photo that members have NO CHOICE to see. We cannot block this violence against animals image. Dozens of members have complained and sent this to PETA in an attempt to have this image removed from the sign in pages. Our underage kids should NOT be forced to see this.

www.flickr.com/photos/11241265@N04/26537562208/

This clearly is a violent image that no-one should be forced to see, especially underage kids. Anyone offended should contact flicker management and SMUGMUG to complain. PETA has received complaints. Images of violence against animals is not okay!
This violent photo should be removed from the sign in line up. Flickr staff should not be making excuses why this VIOLENCE against animals photo is acceptable. It clearly offends people of all ages, but no one wants their kids seeing this! All other photos are NON violent and beautiful. This is not. It should not be listed as SAFE.

Other option is to allow people to block images like this from coming up in sign in. This is not a safe image. It clearly depicts animal violence and should not be forced upon anyone.

Thank you.

I don't know, it looks like a perfectly acceptable photo of a bird enjoying brunch.

You are an example of what is wrong with America. Violence against animals is NOT acceptable. It should be illegal to post them. If this were your domestic animal you would not say what you just said. It is actually illegal to post photos of domestic animals being abused like this. Any sane parent does not want their kids seeing this. It is interesting how Flickr has chosen only ONE violence against animals photo in dozens of beautiful photographs in the sign in page.

Do you... do you know how animals work? This is kind of what they do. How did you think animals got their food? Ask for volunteers?

The OP appears to have joined Flickr with the express purpose of raising this matter here.

It's a troll's sockpuppet account.

As happened in the thread linked to by mcnod above, expect another sockpuppet account to appear in this thread very soon, also to complain about the innocuous photo.

why this VIOLENCE against animals photo is acceptable.

Er... just so you know: a bird is an animal too.

I must say I find your attitude very heartless, denying a bird its food.

Are you serious? lol There is absolutely nothing wrong with that photo, it's nature, an Egret eating a fish and is no way demonstrating abuse towards a domestic animal! It's a part of life in the wild. A wild bird eating a fish is not offensive in any way. As far as children seeing it, I see nothing wrong with that either! There are thousands of similar photos on Flickr that are of birds eating fish! lol Maybe this site is not something that you should have joined if you don't want to see this. There are far more graphic photos showing birds eating fish, other birds, small animals, it's a part of the real world.
As far as PETA, I think they have more concerns than a bird eating a fish out in the wild!
I can't help but wonder, if you are doing this to promote the views of that photo, by showing the link to it.

You again? Is your life so pathetic that you have to complain about what happens in nature every day?

Take note of this bit from Wikipedia regarding the diet of the great egret: "The great egret feeds... mainly on fish, frogs, small mammals, and occasionally small reptiles and insects, spearing them with its long, sharp bill most of the time by standing still and allowing the prey to come within its striking distance of its bill, which it uses as a spear. It often waits motionless for prey, or slowly stalks its victim."

There are far worse things happening in the world every day, and this is the battle you chose? This is the hill you prefer to die on? YOU NEED HELP BUD.

What do you want the bird to do? If it doesn't eat the fish the bird will die. Do you want to be known as emeraldgreen19801, killer of great egrets?

I'd be the first one to be with you on this, if it was real abuse. I actually have called out photos on Flickr that did show abuse, even though it was being "finger-pointy". But you are complaining about nature itself, and I suggest you take it up with whoever created it.

10 to 1 that "emeraldgreen19801", or "fun and games 77", or "C in the clouds", or whatever sock puppet name he is going by these days, is trying to stir up sentiment AGAINST the caring people who report animal abuse, by being deliberately overly ridiculous. I could be wrong, but I would bet a can of sardines on it.

If I am not misunderstand, and your comparison is duck unfriendly, then yes, THAT is indeed a PETA issue:

We already had the same topic six weeks ago, referring to the same photo:

www.flickr.com/help/forum/72157707050082145/

Are you perhaps the same user, who already complained at that time?

Back then, Flickr staff member adstads pertfectly summed the topic up in three short words and closed the thread immediately afterwards:

www.flickr.com/help/forum/en-us/72157707050082145/#reply7...

Hopefully, he will do it again.
