is someone trying to steal/hijack my image?

jarhtmd says:

My stats today show 1 visit from u.pearpact.com
Following that showed /bcittn. When I clicked on that, my image flashed on the screen for just a split second & then:
"We're sorry, Flickr doesn't allow embedding within frames."
"If you'd like to view this content, please click here."
I don't really know what "embedding within frames" is, but gather it involves posting flickr images or links elsewhere on the internet. I've never heard of u.pearpact.com . . . is someone trying to steal/hijack my image?

If it is linking back to the Flickr page (and thus showing up in your stats), it's just displaying, not "posting".

If you don't want your image displayed on that website, you can send them a Notice of Infringement and have them take it down.

A lot of web sites are private, or members only, so when you go to a direct link this is the kind of thing you might see. Someone posted your image to a site with a link back to Flickr, and someone clicked that link to your photostream. But you don't have permission to access the site.

Hey, Derek, I'm confused. Is the "embedding in frames" error message correct in this scenario? I know sometimes that Flickr's error messages are unrelated to the issue.

yeah I have no idea what the error message means, But I get all sorts of random errors, usually from the browser, when trying to access a deep link from a members-only site.

Oops! Typo . . . it's u.pearpad.com . . . if anyone's familiar with that site.

I went there . . . looks to me like maybe a site with smartphone wallpaper, where you can click & "save picture as". I guess my image is hidden somewhere among 228,000 others. All my images are blocked from downloading, but there are all kinds of ways around that.

OK, that makes sense. I've seen a "URL used for spamming purposes" error message appear when a discussion thread became too long.

It looks as though it's an aggregator site which happens to use frames. Since Flickr doesn't allow embedding in frames any Flickr related stuff will re-direct to Flickr.

They have astoundingly inactive Facebook and Twitter accounts, click on the big green 'P'. Looks to me like an experiment that never really went anywhere.
