Why are Superscript and Subscript HTML tags disallowed?

divewizard PRO says:

Flickr allows limited HTML in descriptions, it does not superscript or subscript HTML tags. I personally would sometimes like to use such tags in my descriptive text. In can be very useful if I want to include an equation or chemical name.

I like that I can use Unicode entries like β or β yields β, a lower case beta.

My vote is to allow the additional HTML tags for superscripts and subscripts.

The appropriate place for feature requests is Flickr Ideas. In fact, there was a topic there asking for such a suggestion, but it's since been closed due to lack of activity.

Would a Unicode range for superscripts and subscripts help at all? U+2070 through U+208E offers numbers, +, -, =, (, and ). For example, H₂O.

There is indeed. This forum is for help using Flickr as it is now. Ideas and feature requests should be posted over there.

U+00B2 = ²
U+00B3 = ³

I can't find the subscript ones right now; still looking.

Woops, just learned something by accident. HTML markup for subscript isn't blocked.

₁ = ₁
₂ = ₂
₃ = ₃

¹ = ¹
² = ²
³ = ³
