Photo limit of 1024 x 680

GuitarKing40 says:

Hey

When I upload a picture, thats something like 1680 x 1250f for some reason when I click on See all sizes the biggest size available is "large" which is "1024 x 680".

Why is Flickr Capping the max size of my photos?

thanks!

Because you've got a free account.

To access the original size, you'll have to have a pro account.

Is this a recent change? Because I have a free account and a couple of weeks ago I uploaded photos and their max size was allowed to stay above 1024.

Edit: From reading another forum post, I guess if you upload an image with the largest side being something close to 1024 (ex: 1280), Flickr will allow it to remain unchanged.

mccoyelectric It's not a change at all. The site has always functioned by resizing the images on the Photopage. The original images are not touched in any way. They are stored in the Flickr database at the size you uploaded. The restriction (which applied when I joined years ago) is that a Free account has no access to this original version.

Wow, quick responses. I added an "edit" to my comment above, after I think I found the answer through this forum post:

1024 in max width, not true?
