Anyone else a fan of the UK Zoids comic?

The only true Zoids story as far as I'm concerned - a proper 80s classic (written and drawn by some serious talent).

Sadly there were only 52 issues published. It is the greatest story ever told. Thankfully some kind soul has scanned them all.

If you like Zoids, you should probably check this out.

Couldent agree more, if you like ZOIDS you need to read these comics.

Creators include Simon Furman, Barry Kitson, Grant Morrison, Steve Yeowell, Kev Hopgood, Geoff Senior.

Now if only they would re-print them....

A big fan at the time, I had a full collection. It's what got me into zoids in the first place.

Despite it being a terminator rip off I loved the plot with silverman and the awesome Black Zoid plot (what a battle that was!)

I remember being very shocked to learn the the Japanese market had a totally different story line, and the the zoids had vastly different names too.

I still have the zoids annual in my cupboard, sadly all of the weekly issues I had are now lost to time, markets stalls and probably recycling bins!

Thanks for the link :)

I didn't get to read the comics when they first came out, since I both live in the US AND wasn't even born when they were out, but I've read scans of them, and they're definitely worth looking into if you're a Zoids-fan! I may even get a few of the comics later on.

It must be just as odd for those used to the Japanese storyline to learn about the Marvel UK comic.

Whatever their Japanese names, though, Trooperzoid will always be Trooperzoid to me - not Godos!

I'd agree that the comics are well worth checking out. I wouldn't discount the Japanese back story either. I got into Zoids before the U.K comics were created (yes, there was life before that!) so a lot of the concepts didn't ring true for me. The idea for instance that the canopy "glass" was able to be smashed by a rifle butt seemed totally bogus.

I tend to favour the Japanese back story, where there can be a whole army of "Redhorns" and "Zoidzillas." A battle between warring factions of robots, as in the U.K story is very cold and limiting. Saying that, not all of the Japanese concepts ring true for me either. I have kind of an odd Zoids world of my own running inside my head.

But, hey. What ever your idea of Zoids is, we can all agree that they are one of the coolest toys ever created.
