Here is your chance to take part as an official photographer of the International Olympic Committee at the upcoming 1st ever Summer Youth Olympic Games which will be held in Singapore from the 14 - 26 August 2010. All you need to do is share photos of what you think is the spirit of the Youth Olympics! More info in the Rules of this group!

Group Rules

Youth Olympic Games Official Photographer Challenge (the “Rules”)

1. Eligibility
Subject to the exceptions set forth below, only members of the general public at least 15 years of age who have submitted a Photograph to the Youth Olympic Games Official Photographer Challenge (the “Contest”) on either Olympic.org or Olympic Photo Flickr Challenge group (“Group”), are eligible to participate in the Contest. Participants aged 15-18 are required to have their parent or legal guardian's permission to enter as described below.

Participation in the Contest is void where it is restricted or prohibited by law. Residents of Quebec, Canada are ineligible to participate.

The following persons may be eligible to participate in the Contest but shall not be eligible to win any Prizes:
Permanent and/or contract employees of the International Olympic Committee (“IOC”) and Yahoo! Inc. (including its affiliated and related entities) and their immediate family members;
Members of the Olympic Family (including in particular IOC Members, members of Organising Committees for the Olympic Games or the Youth Olympic Games) and their immediate family members

2. Entries and Participation
(a) To enter the Contest, members of the general public at least 18 years of age who have submitted a Photograph to the Contest (“Participants”) may submit their photographs at flickr.com/groups/youtholympics (hereafter the “Site”) between 7 May 2010 and 31 July 2010. In order to participate in this Contest, you are required to Subscribe to the IOC Olympic Photo Stream on flickr.com/groups/youtholympics

(b) Submitting Photographs: The term “Photograph” means and refers to any and all still image you submit for posting on flickr.com/groups/youtholympics

(c) Your Photograph will be made available online to visitors to the Site or viewers on Flickr. Editing tools will not be provided and photo editing is not allowed in Contest submissions. You must upload or share your Photograph to Flickr at flickr.com/groups/youtholympics. Members of the public may have the opportunity to view your Photograph also via Olympic.org.

(d) Participants may enter the Contest multiple times (see 4(b) below). By entering, Participants agree to be bound by the decisions of the IOC and these Rules and to comply with all local, national and international laws and regulations. The IOC and those working for the IOC or on behalf of IOC, will not be responsible for lost, late, misdirected, damaged, or postage due to mail or e-mail, or for Internet, computer hardware and software, phone, and/or any other technical errors, malfunctions, and delays. Entries which are mutilated, incomplete, illegible, inaccurate, forged, irregular in any way, or otherwise not in compliance with these Rules are also void. In the event of a dispute concerning who submitted an e-mail entry, the entry will be deemed to have been submitted by the authorized holder of the e-mail account from which the entry is made. The "authorized account holder" is the natural person to whom an email address is assigned by an Internet access provider, online service provider or other organization (e.g., business, educational institution, etc.) responsible for assigning email addresses for the domain associated with the submitted email address.

(e) Photographs must be original and created entirely by the Participant and must not incorporate or include anything that is owned by any third party or would require the consent of any third party and Participant’s Photograph must not violate any law or the copyright, trademark, publicity right, privacy right or any other right of any third party.

(f) In addition, the Photograph may not contain content which is obscene, crude, vulgar, or which contains offensive depictions, images or language; gang signs or symbols; nudity; commercial products and/or their trademarks, brands or logos that compete with those of the Worldwide Olympic partners – Coca-Cola, Acer, Atos Origin, GE, McDonald’s, Omega, Panasonic, Samsung, Visa; license plates, phone numbers, personal addresses (physical or email); Web site or Web page links; derogatory characterizations of any ethnic, racial, sexual or religious groups; trespass or the violation of personal rights or property; illegal or inappropriate activity, behavior or conduct; or any other content, material and/or images that could be considered inappropriate, unsuitable or offensive, as determined by the IOC, in its sole discretion.


(h) SPECIAL RULE FOR SUBMISSION OF PHOTOGRAPH BY PERSON UNDER AGE 18: The parent or legal guardian of a person under the age of 18 may submit a Photograph on behalf of his or her child. The Photograph will be considered for publication, and its submission constitutes license for publication and the parent’s or guardian’s agreement, on behalf of the child, to all of the terms and conditions set forth in these Rules. The parent or guardian must complete the entry form himself or herself. The form may not be completed by the child.

Before Photographs are accepted onto Olympic.org or the Flickr Olympic photo challenge group, each user must “accept the terms and conditions” here www.flickr.com/groups/youtholympics/admin/rules/

3. Our Right to Use Your Photographs and Information About You.

(a) Photographs submitted via Flickr remain the property of the Participant. For clarity, you retain the copyright in your Photograph. For the avoidance of doubt, You are allowed to post and share your Photographs on social media, provided such use is not made for commercial purposes or associated with your products or services and/or any third party’s products or services. However, by entering this Contest, and to the extent allowed by law,
if you take part in the Contest and one of your Photographs is chosen as the winning Photograph, you hereby grant the the IOC a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free right and license to use, copy, publicly display, publicly perform, publish or distribute only the winning Photograph that you posted on or submitted to the Group, in addition to any messages, data, information, text, audio, graphics or other material besides other Photographs that you post into the Group (“Content”) for internal use and promotion of the Olympic movement on any media.

(b) You represent and warrant that: (i) all contents of the Photograph are wholly original, have been created entirely by you, have not been taken in whole or in part from any source other than you and do not incorporate or include anything that is owned by any third party or would require the consent of any third party; (ii) you own and/or control 100% of all right, title and interest in and to the Photograph, as well as all elements contained therein; (iii) the Photograph does not and shall not violate any law or the copyright, trademark, publicity right, privacy right, or any other right of any third party; (iv) the Photograph, or any part thereof, has not been commercially released; and (v) you have the written consent, release and/or permission of each and every identifiable individual person in the Photograph to use the name and/or likeness of each and every such identifiable individual person to enable inclusion in and use of the Photograph as contemplated by these Rules; and

(c) You hereby hold the IOC, Yahoo! Inc. and its subsidiaries and affiliates harmless from and against any third party claim arising from use of the Photograph. You waive any right to privacy. You waive any right to inspect or approve uses of the Photograph or to be compensated for any such uses. You hereby represent and warrant that you are at least 18 years of age or an emancipated minor, or possess legal parental or guardian consent and that you have read these Rules and are fully familiar with its contents. You waive and release the IOC, Yahoo! Inc. and each of their respective affiliates and subsidiaries from any and all claims that you may now or hereafter have in any jurisdiction based on any claims, including but not limited to “moral rights” or “droit moral” or unfair competition with respect to the IOC’s or Yahoo! Inc.’s exploitation of Photographs without further notification or compensation to you of any kind, and agree not to instigate, support, maintain, or authorize any action, claim, or lawsuit against the IOC, Yahoo! Inc. and each of their affiliates, licensees, or any other person in connection with this Contest, on the grounds that any use of any Photographs, or any derivative works, infringe or violate any of your rights therein.

(d) By providing the Photograph in connection with this Contest, you grant to the IOC the right, except where prohibited by law, to use your name, likeness, picture, address, e-mail address, voice, biographical information, entry form information and written and oral statements, for advertising and promotional purposes in promoting or publicizing the Photograph, the IOC, Contest, without compensation unless required by law. You shall have no right of approval, no claim to compensation, and no claim (including, without limitation, claims based on invasion of privacy, defamation, or right of publicity) arising out of any use, blurring, alteration, or use in composite form of your name, picture, likeness, address, e-mail address, biographical information, or entry. The rights granted under this paragraph shall extend to the IOC with respect to all Participants in the Contest, including the Participants who are selected as the winners and those Participants who are not selected as a winner. The IOC is under no obligation to use the Photographs for any purpose.

4. Selection of Prize Winner and Awarding of Prize


Participants may enter the Contest multiple times and are eligible to win the following Prize: round trip economy class ticket to Singapore for the Winner and 1 Guest (if the Winner is under 18 years of age, the Winner must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian), plus accommodation, and becoming an official Photographer of the 2010 Singapore Youth Olympic Games.

If the IOC is unable to contact the Prize Winner within twenty-four (24) hours of selection, or if the Prize Winner is unable to accept the Prize within twenty-four (24) hours of its awarding, the Prize will be forfeited and the IOC may award the Prize to an alternate Winner. If the Winner is younger than eighteen (18) years of age as of 22 August 2010 (the commencement of the Singapore 2010 Youth Olympic Games), then such Winner’s parent or legal guardian must provide written permission allowing the Winner to attend the 2010 Youth Olympic Games and the parent or legal guardian must accompany the Winner to the Youth Olympic Games. If the Winner is older than eighteen (18) as of 22 August 2010 and the Winner wishes to bring a Guest who is younger than eighteen (18) as of 22 August 2010, the Winner must provide the minor Guest’s legal or parental guardian’s consent to attend the Olympic Games. All required information and consents for both the Winner and their Guest must be submitted to the IOC within five (5) days after selection to ensure the Prize is not forfeited.

The detailed program for the Prize will be made available to the Winner in due time.

The IOC reserves the right to alter or change the Prize at any time.

(c) The Prize is non-transferable. No substitutions or cash redemptions. The Prize may not be sold, bartered or transferred. The airline ticket is non-re-routable, non-refundable and the validity may not be extended. The Prize does not include any additional expenses, including, but not limited to incidentals, telephone charges, travel insurance, souvenirs, upgraded transportation, additional ground transportation, meals, which are the responsibility of each winner.

By accepting the Prize, the Prize Winner and his/her Guest releases and discharges the IOC, Yahoo! Inc. and each of their respective employees, officers, directors, representatives and agents from any liability or damage due in whole or in part to the award or Prize, acceptance, possession, use or misuse of any award or Prize or from participation in this Contest. The IOC reserves the right to substitute a comparable award or prize of like or greater value for any prize, or to pay the Winner a cash equivalent (the value of which shall be determined by the IOC in its sole discretion), for any reason.

5. Miscellaneous
The IOC’s decision on all matters relating to the Contest will be final and binding on all Participants. The IOC reserves the right at its absolute discretion to vary, delete or add to any of these Rules from time to time without prior notice. The Participants agree to access the Site and at regular intervals of time to view these Rules and to ensure that they are kept up-to-date with any changes or variations to these Rules. These Rules prevail over any provisions or representations contained in any promotional materials relating to The Contest.

The IOC reserves the right to cancel, terminate or suspend the Contest with or without any prior notice. For the avoidance of doubt, cancellation, termination or suspension by the IOC of the Contest shall not entitle the Participants to any claim or compensation against the IOC for any and all loss or damage suffered or incurred by the Participants as a direct or indirect result of the act of cancellation, termination or suspension.

To the extent permitted by law, Participants shall have no right of recourse (whether through ordinary courts or arbitration or else) with respect to the Contest and in particular, but without limitation, against the decisions of the IOC. No correspondence shall be exchanged in relation to the Contest. By submitting a Photograph and participating in the Contest, the Participants hereby expressly agree to be bound by these Rules, the decisions of the IOC.

Limits of Liability: Participant acknowledges and agrees that the IOC has no responsibility whatsoever for injuries, losses, or damages of any kind that result from entrance into the Contest or receipt, acceptance, possession, or use of any Prize. The IOC assumes no liability for lost or misdirected submissions of Photographs regardless of the circumstances. By entering the Contest, Participant releases and holds the IOC harmless from and against any and all damages and claims of any kind in connection with the Contest or resulting from entrance in the Contest, or receipt, acceptance, possession or use of any prize.

Indemnification: Participant agrees to indemnify and hold harmless the IOC from and against any and all claims, damages, losses, costs (including reasonable attorneys' fees), or other expenses that arise directly or indirectly out of or from any allegation that any materials that Participant submits to the IOC or transmits to or posts on the Flickr site infringe or otherwise violate the copyright, trademark, trade secret or other intellectual property or other rights of, or defame, any third party.

You understand that if you are under eighteen (18) years of age, your parent or legal guardian must also read and accept these Rules. By accepting these Rules, you acknowledge and understand that these Rules shall remain in full force and effect until you reach the age of eighteen (18) or until you are emancipated, and at such time you shall accept the Rules prior to contest entry.



Publicity Release: In consideration for permission to enter this Contest, you hereby expressly grant to the IOC the right, privilege and license to use your picture or likeness in any photograph, movie, video production or any other forms of media publication and to use the child's verbal or written statements or declarations for the purpose of publicizing, fostering and promoting the IOC and the Contest or for any other purpose.

Permitted use includes the right to copyright any such publication and to distribute the publication to any persons, groups, agencies, institutions or other third parties the IOC determines.

The parent or legal guardian represents that consent has been obtained from any other parent or legal guardian who has custodial rights to the child.

6. Disclaimer
To the fullest extent permitted by law, in no event will the IOC or any of its officers, servants, employees, representatives and/or agents (including without limitation, any third party service providers that the IOC may engage for purposes of the awards), be liable for any loss or damages (including without limitation loss of income, profits or goodwill, indirect, incidental, consequential, exemplary, punitive or special damages of any party including third parties) howsoever arising whether in contract, tort, negligence or otherwise, in connection with the Contest and/or the awards or Prizes, even if the IOC has been advised of the possibility of such damages in advance, and all such damages are expressly excluded.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the IOC gives no representation or warranty with respect to the Prize provided under the Contest; in particular, the IOC gives no warranty with respect to the quality of the Prize or its suitability or fitness for any purpose.

The IOC reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to cancel or suspend the Contest should a virus, bug or other cause beyond the reasonable control of the IOC corrupt the security or proper administration of the Contest. Any attempt to deliberately damage any website or to undermine the legitimate operation of this Contest is a violation of criminal and civil laws, and should such an attempt be made, the IOC reserves the right to seek remedies and damages to the fullest extent permitted by law, including criminal prosecution.

7. Applicable Law and Forum


No ordinary court of any country shall be competent with respect to any claim, dispute or litigation in relation to the Contest. Should the above-mentioned restriction to recourse as per section 5 be invalid or void, any dispute shall be finally and exclusively settled in accordance with the Statute and Regulations of the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) in Lausanne, Switzerland.
