Hi All,

I am from Connecticut. And I started scrapbooking a couple years ago and decided the pictures that I scrapbooked were not very good so that led me to trying.... I did say trying to learn photography. At this moment my equipment are bigger than my skills. But I am enjoying the learning process. I use a Nikon D80.

Julie70, I live near Paris, France, and three years ago, when I joined flickr I was just going on seventy.

After the Masterclass founded by josef.stuefer closed, I created !afterclass! group , we are now going into our third year in May. Every month another theme, "class" and there is a lot of interesting material contributed as well by the leader of the month as by all the members. Welcome to join us.

A very international group, just as here I see, thank for inviting me here, I'll enjoy contributing later, reading all of you for now. I am old in age but a relatively new photographer: perhaps six years or so that the bug got me. I cannt go out without my small camera any more.

Hello, thanks for the invite,

My name is Marie, I live in Paris in France and I'm very glad to join this group and certainly will learn much, cause I'm new to photography. I'm unable to explain why I like to take pictures, wonder why, but I do love that. No notion of technic, only feeling. Hope I will improve, and I hope also you will forgive my approximative English.

Ouf, that's all for today!

I got my first DSLR about 6 months ago and it's got to be the most interesting and productive 6 months since..I don't know when..I really like finding new techniques in both photography and editing and am constantly amazed with some of the effects which can be achieved with photography now that it has gone digital.
I'm also pleasantly surprised at how many other disciplines this new hobby has presented, such as learning more about computers and what they can do...web design..html...and the group discussions and feedback from other like minds....Finding out more about my local area and wanting to find out more...I could go on..

Looking at all the photography here I feel quite humbled and honored to be invited to be here. I am mainly a mutli-media artist (british born and raised) living in Yellow Springs, Ohio. I do a lot of photography but more as a tool for my art, or for my journals, arts council blog and other blogs. I I carry my camera everywhere and am learning more and more what makes a good photograph as I go along.

I agree with some of the others, photography has not only changed the way I look at stuff but also how I look at my own work (paintings).

Hi folks, and thanks for the invite Damien (I have a son by that name!).

I'm Zillah, residing in Wisconsin and shooting whenever I can with my Sony F828. I'm still learning the camera, and would like to learn more about post processing as well. I carry my camera almost everywhere but I need to learn how to take time out JUST to shoot.

I focus mainly on the sky, storms, cloud formation and all other things nature. I like to shoot people when they aren't paying attention to the camera although I did shoot a wedding recently with some decent results.

After watching a special on Annie Lebovitz I'm starting to think about doing some posed shots with my friends. I love to take pictures I just need to devote more time to it!

Hi, I'm T.L. from southwestern VA. I been into photography since the mid 80's. I used to do photography while in the Navy (I was on submarines) as a part-time job. Got out of the Navy (back in 2000) and didn't do as much as I would have wanted to with my photography. Over the last year or so, I'm trying to get back into taking alot of pictures again. I used everything from Nikon F3's, 70mm B&W film and Kodak DCS's to medium format gear to now my Canon XTi. I miss the darkroom and doing my own processing and printing, but do to my job, I don't have time for anything other than digital.

Hi I'm Rob from Cambridgeshire, UK. I first got into photography back in Secondary (High) School more than 15 years ago. Then the theft of all my gear, lack of finances and to some degree, motivation, left me floating P&S land, until this year when I bought my K10D.

Been on Flickr long enough to stop posting to groups with a noun theme (red cats, orange circles, pink light etc) and want to learn, share and grow with like-minded enthusiasts. It's wonderful and astonishing how much I've learnt from the openness of others on Flickr and photog blogs/sites.

So I'm very glad of the invite and happy to find this community.

Hi! Bo here from California. And I thought I answered this one when I was invited into the group.

I'm into photography but I don't currently own any cameras. I just got done selling off all my pro gear and am looking forward to doing everything with a used Rebel K2 and a 50mm lens. I love doing portraits and have some examples here on flickr. I may supplement this camera with a Canonet rangefinder again, if I can find one in black at a good price. But I no longer believe the camera makes any difference, which is why I don't currently own any.

I'm also a percussionist which was my first career with my current employer, Disneyland, where I now work as an audio engineer.

HI! Newbie to the group here,
I am Cara and I am a California Girl at heart who loves to explore where ever the Air Force sends us (me, active duty husband, our daughter and four cats)! I got bit by the shutter bug in high school and was gnawed at well into college. Took a break while my daughter was little but now she and I love going on photo walks together! She has even produced some decent pieces of her own =)

I shoot on both sides of the camera fence- My main digital camera for now is an old Sony CyberShot DSC-s50 and I am trying to decide which Camera to upgrade to. (am enjoying my time borrowing a Canon Rebel XT from a friend) I also use a Minolta X-7a which is what I've had since I very first started shooting! I love the specific feel that a film shot has to it but all the processing adds up! =(

Photography is a hobby right now, but I am considering getting into the photography business. I like doing nature shots and macro the best, and have the most experience using available light. By joining this group I'm hoping to learn how to really make my pictures get a great reaction from people. I hope that the relearning process will be a painless one.

Thanks for having this group! I look forward to shooting and sharing!

Hi, thanks for letting me in too. I had some rudimentary photo a few years back and fell in love with the whole process. Then life, babies, etc.... my old 35mm finally died, and I made a leap of faith to digital....And I am in love all over again! My old dream of eventually going pro and having my own studio is a lot closer now. I am so thankful for all the advances in technology that are making it come true, one step at a time. I hope that I will continue to learn more about all the many aspects of this wonderful art, and be able to make a living doing what i love. Worst-case scenario, I will have gorgeous pics of my kids to brag about, and lots of good pics of things that inspire me along the way.

I'm new to DSLR shooting, but am already loving the expressive possibilities. Any and all technical and aesthetic advice is appreciated as I'm still climbing steeply up that initial learning curve.

Hi--I'm Sarah.

I became very interested in photography a couple of years ago after I got lucky with a shot of lightning during a storm. I purchased a DSLR a few months ago and have been playing around with it. I'd really like to be able to take good portraits, but my biggest obstacle that I need to overcome is that I get nervous taking pictures of people for fear that they'll be annoyed with me or that they'll expect the pictures to be fantastic because I have a big loud camera.

I appreciate being a part of a group like this so that I have inspiration to try new ideas and learn new skills.

This seems like a really good place to see some excellent photography. I'm living in Oslo, Norway. My goal for 2009 is to take more pictures of people. Merry Christmas & Happy New Year!

First off, thanks for an invite (even though I completely haven't read it until now). Name's Mandy. 21 from Connecticut.

I'm a Sanyo user. It's mainly used for hockey shots and whatever else that suits my fancy. My work is rookie-style, so I'm not the best photographer on the planet. I just like to think it's good. There's the occasional photo that I get that looks like a professional takes it. But that kind of thing's rare.

I'm just hoping I can get a full year of camera skills under my belt in the new year. I've had my toy for a little less than a year.

HI--I'm Jim and I have cameras older than most of the people on Flickr. I got the digital bug about 4 or 5 years ago and worked my way up to a DSLR a couple of years ago.

I formerly owned a camera store (pre-digital), studio, and processing lab. I also shot parttime for a newspaper in Jackson, Tennessee, and did some sports shooting for Southeastern Football magazine.

The transition from film to digital was pretty easy in the beginning but has gotten harder as I have recognized the differences in the two mediums. Film has a lot more "truth" to it. With digital, you are never quite sure how much is real and how much is post-processing. Film can be manipulated but there is always an element of truth to it. That is not the case with digital.

My next purchase is going to be a good fill/slide scanner for my old negatives and slides. I am going to start shooting some film again and scan the new negatives, too.

I really enjoy Flickr and look forward to seeing pictures from each of you.

Thanks for the invite! My name is Ruth and I'm from Southern CA.
I shoot with a Nikon D80. I've had the camera for almost three years and am finally reading about its features so I can learn how to better use it.
I'm still trying to fully understand shutter speed and aperture settings.
I am interested in the technique of strobist flash and setting up an inexpensive "mini" studio in my home.
