Tony Vargas Photography - McAllen, Texas says:

My name is Tony - better known to my employees and flickr as Mr. Vargas. I use a Nikon D3, D300, D80, and have some Sony Cybershots laying around as well.

I got into photography because I traveled a lot. I became a professional photographer, because my wedding photographer really messed up - and it motivated me to bring my business sense and art to my area.

I love sharing what I know, and learning from everyone.

Shadow becomes White says:

Yo,
I'm "Shadow becomes White" from Houston, TX. I took a Stills Photography weekend course in India 7 years ago but never had the budget for an SLR. Recently bought a Pentax K10D camera and currently, shooting stuff at home, work and anything in between as I'm busy preparing for an exam. As soon that's over, can't wait to travel with my camera and shoot everything I want.

Thanks for the invite Damien! Will be hunting your lighting tips ;)

Current interests: Landscapes/Nature, Cityscapes & Macros (in B&W or Color). Haven't concentrated on shooting portraits but I'd like to.

p.s.> I am interested to learn about creating Digital Art with Lightwave and Vue Esprit. So if anyone can give me online pointers, I'd appreciate it.

Hello, My name is Sachiko. I'm originally from Hawaii but currently residing in Europe.

I am fourteen years old and have only started photography about six months ago. I'm a bit of a late starter and have a lot to learn.

I use a Tripod and a Kodak EasyShare.

My dad is a semi-professional photographer who refuses most of his tips on the trade and tells me that experience will teach me how to get better.

Hello, I'm Mollyjolly - aka Maria. Let's see, a bit about me: I am a high school teacher, but have taken a hiatus to take care of a neck thing which keeps getting worse. I have two dogs that I treat like children, and I suspect that I will post a picture or two of them on flickr at some point. I have no experience with photography, other than the "say cheese and smile" variety, and I'm pretty much a point and click kind of girl for the time being. My husband has a more advanced camera, as he is a little more serious about his hobby, BUT I love pictures because they give us a window into another person's thoughts and feelings.

I am hoping to pick up some helpful critiquing from this group, and from Flickr in general.

And agnis, cable access is highly over-rated. Even though I've got Dish network, I find that I read a lot of good books lately (which can be like PBS if the books are good enough!).

Hello all

I'm in the Central San Joaquin Valley of California. Just got my first DSLR, a Nikon D40 a few weeks ago. I think it might be smarter then me, but I'm learning slowly and having a blast.

So far I have the 18-55mm kit lens, 55-200mm and the 50mm 1.8 D (which is my fav!)

I do lots of macro stuff so far, lots of pictures of yarn (I'm a knitter) and of my pets. I hope to branch out to landscape and get somewhat proficient with this camera before going to Alaska in a few months

Hi there ! I have a sony cybershot that I bought it in Spain . It's very cute, I can put it in my pocket and it's silver--definitely a good fashion statement. With 7.2 megapixels at my disposal, I aim, I shoot, I pray. But you probably already knew that from my pictures. : ) Eventually though, I realize I am going to need more than prayer to sell more jewelry, so thanks for the invite!

Hi all. My name is Mark, I'm from sydney Australia. My day job involves sitting at a computer and telling people what to do. As for my photography - I'm an amateur who uses photography to keep me sane. I bought a digital SLR about two years ago and my film SLR hasn't left its bag since. I'm a digital junkie :)

Hello, Thanks for the invite. My name is Carol and I live in Upstate/Western New York..ie. NOT the city:-) I use a Nikon D80 that has more functions than I know what to do with. I'm trying to find a local beginners photography class so I can get the ideas in my head to come out of the camera. I wouldn't call myself a purist or I would be using a film camera intead of my digital. I do however want to learn to take the best photo I can before sending it off to photoshop to fix my screw ups.

I love photographing landscapes and architecture.

Thanks for the invite. I look forward to sharing and learning.

Hi all! I am Lee-Ann and I hail from the Toronto, Canada area. I have been addicted to photography for about 2 years now and got my first DSLR (Canon 40D) for Christmas.
My goal is to master the art of portrait taking which is an area the I feel I really struggle. As a Mom, I am tired of dishing out $ to Walmart for photos of my kids when I could likely do a 10x's better job myself!

@ Lee-Ann Licini - Way to go! Break that mold of going to Wal-Mart or any other factory photo place.

Disclaimer: I got my first start as a portrait photographer working at a privately owned photo factory about ten years ago. Hey, you gotta learn business somewhere!
