Group Description

Do a google-image search for New York City Skyline and you will see that most of the top results are a bit out of date - and I'm not referring to the inclusion of the Twin Towers. What's missing are all the new office towers, museums, theaters, luxury townhouses, and condos with floor-to-ceiling glass windows that have sprung up over the last building boom. Now that the financial crisis has brought construction to a near standstill we see an opportunity to reassess the city - to check out what's new, what's working and what isn't, and what's coming up next.

ONLINE VIDEOS: WNYC has put video cameras in the hands of some of the city's leading architects: Stephen Cassell, Liz Diller, Hugh Hardy, and Michael Van Valkenburgh. These video diaries explore themes including new landmarks, green building, public space, and new technologies.

ON THE CULTURE PAGE: Explore the city in person. More walking tours and meet-ups on the way. Subscribe to our RSS feed to stay up to date.
