I have made my first Tova top in a size small and it looks great. Now I want to make another one and was hoping that I could get advice about keeping to the small size but altering the bust area to allow a little more room.

What would be the easiest thing to do? perhaps shorten the yoke panel so that the gathering starts higher on the bust rather than its fullest? Increase the size of the yoke?

Many thanks

On BOTH front and back pieces, extend the side seam outward 1/4-1/2" (depending on how much ease you want, 1/4" will give you 1" extra room, 1/2" will give you 2" extra total) at the bottom of the armhole and draw a straight line to connect with the hem. Your sleeve cap will have a little less ease and the notches won't match the notches on the armhole of the body, but it should work out fine if you ignore that. I wouldn't recommend messing with the yoke. Too complicated and will mess up the proportion.

Thank you so much for replying, this is a great help. Having a relatively big bust is such an annoyance, especially as a sewing beginner! I cant wait to make another top and have some great brushed cotton fabric to use.

Many kind regards
