Welcome to WEEKLY. A feedback group with a difference. Scroll down to see what we're about, and how we work. Check out our pool of work, built over ten years by keeping only the best from each member's single weekly submission. Many of our members credit WEEKLY's unique give/get feedback process for making them better photographers. The best of Weekly's images can also be seen in the "Weekly Plus Tens" group.
Group DescriptionPLEASE READ AND AGREE TO THE GROUP RULES BEFORE JOINING THIS GROUP
PLEASE ALSO REMEMBER THAT THERE IS ONLY ONE SUBMISSION ALLOWED PER MEMBER PER WEEK.
If you have any questions, please contact Still The Oldie, one of the admins.
With over 10,000 photos in our pool, its easy to get lost. Here is a great way to randomly peruse over ten years of Weekly KEEPERS, yours among them.

Group RulesPLEASE READ THESE RULES CAREFULLY - AND AGREE TO THEM - BEFORE JOINING THIS GROUP
Only join this group if you:
Want to submit a picture for constructive criticism, help and advice, and with the hope that it will be voted into our permanent pool by other members ;
Agree to offer constructive criticism, help, and advice on images submitted by other members;
Agree to vote on whether or not photos submitted by other members should gain entry to our permanent pool [a minimum of 5 votes per weekly cycle]. Please note that if you fail to meet the voting requirements, your own submitted shot for that week will be removed from the pool. Failure to vote on a repeated basis will result in expulsion from Weekly. That said, we do understand that life can get in the way and we are open to discussions before expulsion.
Agree to abide by our need for fairness and civility in your comments, and to ensure that they are free from content or genre bias [it doesn't matter if it's a sunset - is it a good sunset?];
Are able to take criticism when it is offered on your image under these terms.
Important Note: Please ensure that you hold copyright on all the images in your own photostream, or have them clearly marked otherwise, regardless of whether for any reason you intend to post them to the group or not.
How WEEKLY Works (Please make yourself familiar with this. Thanks.)
YOU MAY SUBMIT ONLY ONE PHOTO FOR COMMENT EACH WEEKLY SESSION , where it will be given temporary status and become subject to the comments and votes of other members. Their votes will determine whether or not your photo is accepted into the permanent pool.
An admin will open a thread for that photo at the earliest convenience, inviting comment and voting on it. (Members are required to vote on a minimum of five photos from other members each week, but are encouraged to greatly exceed this minimum.) Following our rules (above) comments should cover "what's good" and "what's not so good" about an image and how it could be improved.
These comments will result in a "Keeper" or "Free Flight" vote, which will help determine whether or not the photo stays in our pool. On Saturday, usually by the afternoon, the threads are closed by the admins, and the votes are tallied automatically by our OCR-based software 'autobot'. They will take the photo out of the pool if has less "Keeper" than "Free Flight" votes. Otherwise it will be a "WeeklySurvivor". An admin will tag it as such, and it can remain in the pool forever.
A critical heads up: A SUBMITTED PHOTO MUST NOT BE EDITED OR ALTERED IN ANY WAY ONCE A COMMENT THREAD HAS BEEN OPENED FOR IT. DOING SO WILL CAUSE AN IRRETRIEVABLE BREAK IN THE LINK, RESULTING IN THE IMAGE DISAPPEARING FROM THE WEEK'S COMPETITION - AND FROM THE GROUP POOL...
Oh and we are not as harsh as delete me! As one of our key rules implies, please don't be rude, nasty, or unfair in your comments or votes. We also expect reasons for your comments and votes, and encourage you to make positive suggestions for improvement if you believe that is warranted.
Our aim is for members to find this the most helpful, stimulating, constructive, and enjoyable group on Flickr…
Note: The question of whether or not we should accept images that feature nudity has recently been raised, and the consensus is that we should - provided that the image contains an advisement as to its content in its title, thus allowing members to choose whether or not to view the image. We don't intend to set formal content boundaries: we expect this to be self-policing through good ol' common sense...
We ask that you follow your comments with a vote that reflects them. Please select from the approved terms for your votes, since they are counted semi-automatically, and any not using an approved term will be ignored:
Use Only: "survivor", "keeper", "free flight" or "freeflight"
No Variations: "keep it", "let it free", "srvivor", "freflight" and so on won’t count.
Avoid: using more than one vote-triggering word in your comments (they will ALL be counted!), so use corrupted versions such as “K33p3r” or “FF” or “fr33flght” if you need the terms for reference, but don’t want to trigger a vote.
Note: Vote in the thread opened for the photo, not in the normal comments space in its photostream. Votes in the photostream will NOT be counted.
Also please – keep checking beyond page 1 of the discussion threads. Pages 2 and 3 will have more photos to comment and vote on. Our weekly submissions are numerous and interesting. That’s why this is such a great group!
Sunday - Tuesday (Morning) - post your photo (an admin will open the thread)
Sunday - Early the following Saturday – keep commenting and voting!
Early Saturday - admins close the threads, count the votes, and award the survivors with a permanent place in our pool
We change the group icon every week. One of the admins will choose it.
If you get kicked it may be because you have been rude and nasty or you didn't give 5 votes in the past few weeks [we are serious about this!], but you are free to come back...
- Members can post 4 things to the pool each week.
- Accepted content types: Photos, Images
- Accepted safety levels: Safe, Moderate
