Group DescriptionThis competition, in its ninth year, is being run on Flickr for the seventh time! It closes on May 1st and has cash prizes!
The theme of the competition is: COMMUNICATION FOR ALL
Communication rights invoke spaces and resources in the public sphere for everyone to be able to engage in transparent, informed and democratic debate. They invoke unfettered access to the information and knowledge essential to responsible democracy, empowerment, active citizenship and mutual accountability. They invoke political, social and cultural environments that encourage the free exchange of a diversity of creative ideas, knowledge and cultural products. Communication rights invoke the need to ensure a diversity of cultural identities that together enhance and enrich the common good.
The WACC Photo Competition 2012 seeks photos that illustrate the notion that communication is a basic human right, essential to people's dignity and community; or how communication promotes democratic values and social justice; or how communication helps restore voice and visibility to people, particularly vulnerable and disadvantaged groups.
