I've noticed several people posting photos to the group that are not real vintage, but recent digital photos of kids that are styled to look like vintage photos, sometimes with digital effects, etc.

In the past, I tried posting (polite) comments quoting from the group rules to let the users know that their photos don't belong and they should remove them. I figure those who break the rules probably do so because they are not aware of them, so if someone just tells them politely, if they have any sense they would remove them.

But what happens usually is that they delete my comments, block me, and leave the photos in the group. Nice.

For example:

www.flickr.com/photos/41529756@N07/3971718806/

These photos are all from the same user and they are all part of the group pool, but they are not vintage. I posted a comment on each photo to let the guy know, but he just deleted my comments and blocked me.

Is there a better way to go about this? I don't mean to be a jerk. I just want people to follow the rules.

Is there an active admin that could remove them?

It is annoying when I see photos that don't belong here. Just my $.02.

There is only one moderator, they are not "pro" and have not posted anything to flickr in half a year.

It's like a car without a driver!!

You could try sending a message to the Group Administrator explain the predicament and asking to be nominated as a moderator or administrator so you could have the power to delete images that are not relevant to the group. The alternative is to set up a similar group and run it more actively.

Eventually a group will get too corrupted and people will stop posting if no one really cares what is in it anyway.

I am not volunteering-I already administer/moderate several groups hahah

I did write to the admin. All I can do now is wait.
Hm, it's a shame. I guess the other possibilities are to find another group on the same theme that *is* being moderated or start a new one.

I agree I don't like seeing photo that are not vintage posting in genuine vintage pool, perhaps who ever they are should create a group surely.

Some of the photos being added aren't even styled in any kind of attempt to look vintage!

Is anyone moderating this group any more?

I've done a massive clean-up of the group recently and deleted hundreds of photos that didn't apply.

I'm going to start doing it more regularly again. Sorry about that.

This group has a rather negative tone, I dont hear anything Positive or appreciative. I agree in the rules, but I think there should be some sense of fun too., especially when it has to do with kids.
