WELCOME TO THE GROUP!
There are only a few rules to participate in swaps here but they are important.

1. Do your VERY BEST work. Please don't sign up for a swap unless you have the time and energy to devote to it. You should be sending your partner something that you would be thrilled to receive.

2. Read the swap guidelines carefully for each swap and adhere to them.

3. Check the group page regularly when you are participating in a swap. It is your responsibility to check your partner assignment and stay up to date. There are no email reminders.

4. Communicate via flickrmail. Please don't post questions, exchange addresses or report problems via discussions.

5. Use good swappers etiquette. Flickr mail your partner(s) when you send or receive a swap.

6. Mail swaps with tracking and in time to arrive by due date.

7. There is a FIRM due date deadline policy. Swaps received after the due date will NOT be included.

8. If you flake, you are banned.

Valentine 2016 Swap
Sign up through January 20
Mail no later than February 5- FIRM!!!
Please read the description carefully. There are a few layers to this swap.
1. You will make one ribbon doll for your partner. Google ribbon doll, search pinterest or check out the one on my blog that I made for Christmas. Your doll should reflect the Valentine theme. You may construct the body of any materials but your doll has to have ribbons to make the dress. Use beautiful, quality ribbons, lace and fibers. Sari ribbons, silk ribbon, seam binding, tulle, fibers, torn material, laces. Please do not use ribbon off the roll. The ribbons need to flow.
2. Your doll will be sent in a Valentine embellished box. A heart shaped candy style box works nicely but it needs to be decked out in pure romantic Valentine style. Lace, doilies, flowers, pearls, special images.
3. Include a handmade Valentine card, atc or tag. You can also fill your box with Valentine goodies to make an extra special swap for your partner.

Halloween Paper Bag Book Swap
Halloween 2014 Swap by Vintage Dragonfly

Sign ups close September 10th.
Number of pages to make will be posted September 11th.
Due Date: October 8th, IN MY HANDS
Many thanks to those who responded to the last post. I was thinking it might be time to shut the group down. It grew quickly to over 100 members, though now there are a handful of us participating. But what a wonderful handful we are, right?
I appreciate your kind and thoughtful comments...so let's swap!!!!

I came across a Halloween themed paper bag book that I did in another swap group some years ago. Looking through it really made me want to do another.
Check my blog, vintage dragonfly.blogspot.com and see if you agree!
Here's how we do it:
1. Decorate up to 6 (# to be determined after sign-ups close) standard size paper lunch bags, ALL exterior surfaces. These go quickly once you get rolling. They can be the same or different. It's up to you. Each bag will serve as one page in someones book.
2. Make one of the bags a "cover" for your own book. Please label it somehow as your cover.
3. Make a tag, bookmark, some type of card to be tucked in the pocket (opening of lunch bag).
4. Use paper, fibers, charms, ribbons, flowers, diecuts, stamps....whatever you like. The more embellished the better the book!
5. Please refer to my blog for basic directions. If you need more detailed direction feel free to flickrmail me.
6. You will send all pages to me by October 8th. This is a IN MY HANDS deadline so be sure to allow adequate delivery time. Pages received after that date will not be used. Please, please, please put tracking on your package.
7. Please include $8.00 cash for shipping (Canadian players, I'm not sure how much to ask you for as I know rates have increased dramatically. If you can calculate amount, please let me know.)
8. I will bind the books and return them to you in a priority box.
I hope you'll join me in this Halloween collaborative!

2. Imagery should be vintage, victorian.
3. Embellish with tinsels, millinery, laces, fabrics, glitter, embellishments that fit the theme. Please make sure the top is punchable for stringing.

A Very Merry Christmas Matchbox Ornament Swap
[https://www.flickr.com/photos/vintagedragonfly/8039685732/in/photostream]
Due: November 20, 2012
For this swap we'll be using the mini (32 count) matchboxes. Dollar Tree sells a 10 pack for $1. You'll be using 8 of the matchboxes to create ornaments. Think outside the matchbox for this one! The matchbox itself does NOT have to be the entire ornament....or it can be. It can be adhered to something larger or it can have extensions off of it or items dangling from it. They all must include a hanger.
You will be sending me all eight of your ornaments. They can be all the same or all different. I'll be swapping them out individually with swappers who have put similar creativity, materials and workmanship into their ornaments. You will recieve 8 ornaments from 8 different artists.
Please include:
1. $7 cash for return shipping. Ornaments will be carefully packaged and shipped in priority box and mailed with delivery confirmation.
2. A large legible return address label.
3. Your 8 ornaments tagged or labeled to identify you as the maker. You may bag or package your ornaments but please do not wrap. I need to see what you've made to match with an appropriate recipient.
Ornaments MUST be in my hands by November 20th to be included in the exchange.
I'm hoping for lots of participants for this one. I think it will be a really fun swap with lots of variety! I'm also posting early as I know how hectic the holidays can be. You're welcome to make and send as early as you like.

Bonus Swap: Mermaid Mini Cards
Due July 12, 2012
Mermaid Mini Card Swap by Vintage Dragonfly

I became addicted to these mini cards swapping in our fellow group member, Kim's swap blog, Tabby's Swaps. Kim has temporarily suspended those swaps and graciously offered that I do some here. (Thanks again Kim!)
You will be making 7 mini cards and receiving 6 in return. This time around as your hostess I'd like to be able to keep a piece of everyone's artwork.
Cards are 1" x 3" (microscope slide) size. They should be backed on chipboard, matboard - something that won't bend.
The more embellished the better-can't stress this enough. My little display card has layered images, stickles, glitter, little pearls and a brass charm. You really can do a lot with a tiny pallette!

Could there be a better summertime theme? Create some mermaid magic!

A Midsummer Night's Dream Matchbox Swap
Due August 3, 2012
A Midsummer Night's Dream by Vintage Dragonfly

A Midsummer Night's Dream is one of my favorite Shakesperian works. Written in the late 1500's, it's an Elizabethan tale of romance, fantasy and magic.
We will be altering 1 large (250 count) matchbox. Design the exterior in keeping with the feel of the theme. You do not have to portray specific characters or scenes (though you certainly may) but try to capture the ethereal sense this play exudes.
Think fairies, the forest and its creatures, Elizabethan maidens, moonlight. Think fantasy and magic.
Fill the box with all things heavenly, ethereal and magical!
Get REALLY creative with this one!!!!!
Boxes shuld be sent to your partner no later than August 3 though you can send anytime before then.
It's summer time, busy time for many, so this is one you can jump in at your leisure but please sign up only if you have the time to create something wonderful for your partner between now and the beginning of August.
This will be the ONLY matchbox swap (there may be a bonus swap or two) before the fall.
Now start dreaming......

We're not listing specific items but general ideas to get your partner going.
Put down lots and lots of loves. Give your partner several ways to go with this. The idea isn't to be so specific that it's a blueprint and you should be surprised, as well as delighted, with what you receive!
Signups open through April 21.

NEW SWAP ANNOUNCEMENT! Due December 1st
Secret Santa Advent Christmas Swap
Secret Santa Advent Christmas Swap by Vintage Dragonfly

Remember the anticipation and excitement of counting down the days to Christmas with an advent calendar as a child?
Can you keep a secret? For 25 days?
Join in some holiday fun and play Secret Santa for one of your group members!
Here are the details:
1. Alter TWO of the large 250 count matchboxes in holiday style. Any style goes but you may want to snoop around your partners blog, website or etsy to find out what they like. Your boxes may be kept separate, stacked-whatever you choose.
2. You need 2 boxes because inside you are going to put 25 SMALL WRAPPED & NUMBERED HOLIDAY THEMED AND HOLIDAY CRAFTING ITEMS. This does not and should not be an expensive swap. You may use nice items from your own stash (and I know we all have stashes!) Ribbon, trims, mini ornaments, tiny bells, images. Think tiny and fun!
3. The gift marked #25 for Christmas Day should include something that reveals your identity.
Won't this make the often crazed holiday season fun, having just a little surprise something for you every day of December?

Signups will be a little different for this swap. In addition to saying you want to play under the signup post you need to flickrmail me your complete mailing address with a blog url, website, etsy - somewhere your Secret Santa can do some sleuthing.
I'm going to copy and paste the info you send me and forward it to your Secret Santa.
Please only signup if you are positive you can have this in your partner's hands by December 1st at the latest.
Now go have some HO HO HOliday matchbox fun!

BONUS HALLOWEEN SWAP!!!!!
A Gothic Tale by Vintage Dragonfly

How about a quickie bonus swap?
Make 7 gothic or mosque shaped cards which will be incorporated into a mini book. They may be all the same or different.
THEME: This is a gothic tale and the artwork should reflect that.
SIZE: Mine are approximately 2.5" x 4" tall (minus trim) so keep them somewhat in that size range. They don't have to be exact. Variance in size and shape make the book more interesting!
BINDING: I'm doing a simple 2 hole punch on the left hand side and will bind with fiber and/or ribbon. When you're embellishing remember to leave me a little room for a couple of holes.
DUE DATE: Must be in my hands by Friday, October 14th. I'll do a quick turn around and get your little book back in your hands by the following weekend.
INCLUDE: $3 (shipping), a bubble envelope I can reuse and a mailing label.
I'll close signups when we reach a number I'm not overwhelmed by-lol. Sign-up under topic.

Group Rules

When there is too much info posted members tend not to read what they need to.

5. Use good swappers etiquette. Flickr mail your partner(s) when you send or receive a swap.

6. Mail swaps with delivery confirmation and in time to arrive by due date.

7. Treat each other kindly and enjoy!
