When approved, they will be added to the group's photos. In the interests of protecting the group we have the following rules and moderation policy.

This Flickr group is also linked to from www.le.ac.uk, allowing our website visitors to browse to this group and see your photos of life at Leicester, the campus and related University photos. Adding your photos to our group forms an important part of the University's online community – and it will showcase your art and photography to a large international audience. Please be aware your photos may be used in Flickr feeds on the University website and social media sites.

University of Leicester Flickr group rules and moderation policy

We try to be as fair as we can when moderating but in a large community of users, with many different viewpoints, there will always be some people that will not be happy with our moderation policies. While we regret that this happens, we cannot suit all of the people all of the time and have to make decisions based on what is best for the community overall.

The views expressed in this group do not necessarily reflect the views of the University of Leicester. The University of Leicester is not responsible for the accuracy of any of the information contained within this group or the pictures provided by its members.

• Please read these rules carefully, this group has a strict moderation policy.

• New group pool submissions are checked each day; any photos that breach the group rules are removed.

• This group is set up to celebrate the student experience at the University of Leicester through positive imagery that will inform new students and provide a fond reminder to our alumni, staff and visitors.

• Images should feature the University of Leicester, or its buildings, campus, grounds, teams etc. We’re particularly interested in images depicting your student experience on campus. Perhaps your favourite buildings or hang-out, a particular view, or just a great piece of photography.

• We welcome images from current and former students, staff and visitors

• Images can be from any year. If it features the university we’d love for you to share it.

• Photos must be in public domain or you must be a copyright owner.

• You may submit up to 15 photos per day.

• Please ‘Tag’ your photo or provide some location info in the title or description so that other members can identify where at Leicester it was taken.

• The Flickr guidelines state that using Flickr for commercial purposes is not allowed. Any photos that are accompanied by instructions on how to purchase products will be deleted without notice.

• Members who persistently break these rules may be removed from the group or permanently banned. Any photos that break these rules will be removed. The group moderators and administrators have the final word in all cases.

How to Report Abuse

Report abuse by informing the Moderator. Please note that abuse reports are confidential and are not seen by the abuser. Please contact socialmedia@le.ac.uk if you spot abusive or illegal content.

Libellous Content

If you feel you have been defamed or libelled in the group, your first step should be to contact the Moderator to have the offending image or comment removed. The Moderator’s e mail address is socialmedia@le.ac.uk

Why was my Abuse Report not Accepted?

The Moderator may or may not accept that the issue you highlight is actually abusive under our rules.

What to do if your image is Moderated

If your image is edited or deleted, you will be sent an email from the moderator. If you still don’t understand why you were moderated then email the Moderator.
You Should Not:

• Post the same message again.
• Taunt the Moderator
• Taunt other members of the forum for reporting you

Then please do not post materials.

Leaving the Group

If you decide to leave the group, we will not delete your old images and comments.

Ownership and Liability of Messages

Messages posted at this site are the sole opinion and responsibility of the poster. We have the right to edit, delete, transfer, keep, sell or re-license comments at our sole discretion.

The Community Guidelines

Extend basic courtesy to all users. Always be respectful of other users, the system, and the Moderator.

1. Commecial posts

The group is not a venue for unsolicited advertisements of any kind. It will be the sole discretion of the Moderator as to what constitutes an advertisement.

2. Personal insults

Do not directly insult other users of the group. Personal insults do not contribute to the community and, if not checked, they lower the tone. If someone insults you, do not insult them back or you will be given a warning. Please report the abuse instead.

3. Off-topic images

Please stay within the theme. This group is set up to celebrate the student experience at the University of Leicester through positive imagery that will inform new students and provide a fond reminder to our alumni, staff and visitors.

4. Inciting illegal behaviour

Discussing illegal behaviour is fine, but posts inciting illegal behaviour are not acceptable. This includes, but is not limited to posts discussing places to steal items, to copy or hack software, etc.

5. Venting about previous employers

Claims of action, flames, and calls to action against any company or person will be removed. We will remove any direct attacks on corporations and individuals in those corporations, unless they are the topic of the news item.

6. Graphics & images

This is a family friendly group so please no nudity will be permitted. Racial, ethnic, religious or any other negative comments will not be tolerated. All reports of abuse will be investigated by a group administrator and any member found to be breaking this rule will risk being banned from group.

7. Do not post in all caps

They are difficult to read and many people think they are the equivalent of shouting.

8. Illegal materials

We will check for materials that may be defamatory, infringe copyright or other Intellectual Property Rights, or are illegal for any other reason, including, but not limited to, Contempt of Court, pornography, or promoting terrorism and reserve the right to delete or amend any materials that in the Moderator’s reasonable opinion are likely to fall foul of the law.

9. The final word

The Moderator’s decision is always final.
