I am trying to identify the font used to caption the drawings in the Hardy Boys and Nancy Drew books from the mid-50's through the late 60's. Here are a couple of samples of the font:

I think the font used for the captions is simply the type font used in the books, but bolded and italicized. Here is a sample of the general text:

I assume you’re looking at an e-book and not a printed copies, because this is very new type: Bookerly, released in 2015 specifically for the Kindle. The italics you show are slanted and italic which is what makes them slightly awkward here.
