Thanks william.olive for sorting this out. It looks like I've got a good 6+months before I get my go. Oh, well. I'll just have to sit tight.
Happy travels little Trip!
Shawnito PRO 6 years ago
I´m ok on international P&P to France :)
I am looking forward to this. And the guy who has it before me is a masterful photographer. This is going to be good.

Let There Be More Light

Actually, after taking a second look at the itinerary, it should be going to patrickjoust next.

let there be more light has put up his hand for international postage.
Dr. Polaris 6 years ago
Cassio is in hong kong, so I can just like give it by hand
Time Share 6 years ago
Just let me know what needs to be done in terms of postage
Kinoz 6 years ago
Wow, i can just wait... .:D
Dr. Polaris 6 years ago
Haven't gotten it yet, excited!@!@!@
Dr. Polaris 6 years ago
Is it too late to withdraw? I told my parents and they had a fit about me giving out my address to strangers on the net, and how I won't have time to take photos since I need to concentrate on my studies...

I mean, I can give it to Cassio right when I get it, since we're both in Hong kong
ǝɹɐɥoʎpuɐ 6 years ago
That's a shame, Dr. P, but I guess you have to respect your parents' decision. Although I have to say I don't understand it...do they realise that you've only given your address to one stranger on the internet?
Dr. Polaris 6 years ago
no. they went on this website and still l believe I gave it to you all
Dr. Polaris 6 years ago
i might be able to convince them, I'll see
Well, it is on the way. You have about ten days to convince them.

Man, postage is pricey. UPS wanted $106.00 to ship. I ended up using the USPS as it was about half that amount.

As for the camera, it is lovely. I ran two rolls (one b&w and one colour,) and have yet to get the color roll developed. I will save my fourth post for something on that roll.

Man, postage is pricey. UPS wanted $106.00......

My experience is that US and Australian postage is the most expensive.

Australian delivery times are also long for some reason, unless you choose the high cost option.
Kinoz 6 years ago
Any news? :D
I would imagine him getting it early next week.
Dr. Polaris Posted 6 years ago. Edited by Dr. Polaris (member) 6 years ago
This is taking forever...

if I don't get it next week is there anything I can do? Call the post office to check it up or smth?

EDIT: Once I get it I'll notify u guys, then find C. Hui so I can immediately pass it on when I'm done.
Let There Be More Light PRO Posted 6 years ago. Edited by Let There Be More Light (member) 6 years ago
The post office said it would be at least ten working days. It will be there next week.
Dr. Polaris 6 years ago
i'l give the post office one more week before I call them (I dunno if you can too, but we can just call the post office with the address the parcel was supposedly sent to and they will check it up)
I tracked it, and it says it was delivered on Sept. 11th. I don't know if that means it was delivered to the Post system or to your house though. Do you think someone may have signed for it and not told you?

Does the parcel send directly to a person house?
Yes. I will call the post office for clarification.
Called up the Post Office.

It was delivered to the house on Sept. 11th.

She started a dispute with the Hong Kong Post Office, and they will provide proof of delivery. They have 24 days to provide the proof. :-(

Polaris, maybe you can call on your end. The customs tracking number is:

CP65 1972 284U S

Let me know if there is anything I can do on my end. It was insured for $75.00, but I think it will be hard to submit a claim if they said it was delivered. Maybe your parents have it?
ǝɹɐɥoʎpuɐ 6 years ago
bad news. I'm still willing to put forward a replacement Trip if necessary.
Dr. Polaris 6 years ago
the house I put down was my grandparent's house. I've asked them, they said they don't have it, but I think my uncle (who lives with them) might have it. Problem is he's out of town, so I couldn't ask him. I'll tell my g-parents to search around the house.

it's in a box?
Yes. A Red, white, and blue United States Post Office box. I am surprised the box doesn't say "These Colors Don't Run" or "USA! USA!" all over it.

Us Americans are not known for our modesty.
Kinoz 6 years ago
I hope nothing happen to the parcel..... :(
So, what's the word Polaris? Did you ask your Uncle or Grandparents?
ıusnɾ@w|©kedf|lm Posted 6 years ago. Edited by ıusnɾ@w|©kedf|lm (member) 6 years ago
So, it has been 10 days that the Trip35 was delivered. I hope Polaris (Jesse) have sorted it out. How long will your uncle be out of town Jesse?
Dr. Polaris 6 years ago
heyheyhey I got it!!!!!!!!!!!!!

turns out it was already gotten like last last saturday, but in my uncles room.

(big **** box lol, plus massive amounts of bubble wrap :P)

after I'm done i'll get it to Cassio, who's in Hong Kong too!

Nice to hear that Jesse. Have fun shooting and post a picture of you with the big box here.

Dr. Polaris 6 years ago
lol I threw the box away

(@lettherebemorelight) there wasn't anything important on/in it, right? I just noticed lotsa bubble wrap :P
Dr. Polaris 6 years ago
oh double post but I'm too lazy to edit..

I was thinking about taking some photos of the mid-autumn festival tonight, and it'll be dark as hell. I have a flash, so should I set my trip to f 2.8 and the flash will fire automatically?
Kinoz 6 years ago
Wah, i cant wait for my turn. I hope i got the camera before i am going back to my hometown.... :D
Nothing but foam and bubble wrap. I didn't want it to get destroyed in the post.

Have fun with it.
ǝɹɐɥoʎpuɐ 6 years ago
never actually used flash on my Trip, but yes it will fire automatically. Settings depend on your flash - if it's a purely manual flash you need to set the aperture according to the distance to your subject - there should be a table printed on the back of the flash. If the flash is auto, there will be one or two possible apertures you can use - again there should be information on the flash itself. Be aware that my experience of flash units is limited to 30-year-old models, more modern ones are likely to be very much more sophisticated...
Kinoz 6 years ago
Dr Polaris, you can get some tips from the Night Trip group.. :D
Dr. Polaris 6 years ago
I hope I didn't mess it up. I just set my f stop to 2.8 cuz I was too lazy to look at the table in the dark..
Kinoz 6 years ago
You better shoot more then.... :D

ooh...lucky i wandered into this thread again by coincidence. please send me an email or something, in case i forget to pop in again. yes i am in hong kong, and yes i should have time to do this, as i'll be finishing my dissertation within a week.

Its 8th of October now, hows the trip 35 doing? xD
Dr. Polaris 6 years ago
i already contacted Cassio three days ago, and the news is that the only available time that I can pass the trip on is next week. It seems we live merely 20 minutes or so away from each other, so I will pass it on by hand.

I will post content on the PM if needed
Kinoz 6 years ago
Lol, small world. :)

Alright, it seems to be moving and i hope Cassio could drop a word here upon receive. Can't wait for it to arrive at Malaysia... xD

I bet Cassio already have my address. Keep it rolling fellas!!
Cassio Hui 6 years ago
just checking, has the camera arrive safely? its been 2 weeks since i mailed it.
zyker - no more 6 years ago
Not yet. The item just left Hong Kong for its destination on 18-Nov-2010.
That's what's written in the HK mail tracking and not yet available in the Malaysian mail tracking system. Let's wait for today since it's already Friday here in Malaysia then I'll give them a call next week.
ǝɹɐɥoʎpuɐ 6 years ago
man these things are slow! But I guess we need patience with a project like this
Kinoz 6 years ago
Hope everything will be alright... :D
Cassio Hui 6 years ago
hm...just checked the tracking website, it doesn't actually say where it is. bit surprising, since it IS air mail, not surface.
zyker - no more 6 years ago
No worries, I will check with the Malaysian side tomorrow.
Cassio Hui 6 years ago
the camera is returned. can you confirm your address?
Kinoz 6 years ago
Uisshhh...let me ask Akmalzaini back... <___<
zyker - no more 6 years ago
I'm sorry for the trouble. I will flickrmail Cassio for my address.
Cassio Hui 6 years ago
hm...as far as i can tell the address looks right...which is a bit annoying...
harragan 6 years ago
Well, to put a positive spin on this, it's all good stuff for the book!
ǝɹɐɥoʎpuɐ 6 years ago
ha, yes! The Trip is travelling further than we thought...
admin
william.olive 6 years ago
Perhaps, depending upon what the post office has to say, rather than re-send to akmalzaini, send to Kinoz first.
zyker - no more 6 years ago
I agree with William. Maybe better to be sent to either Kinoz or Jusni first.
Cassio Hui 6 years ago
alright, Kinoz or Jusni, send me your address :P
Kinoz 6 years ago
I'll send mine then...
Dr. Polaris 6 years ago
are we going to make some sorta book or anything out of this? Or maybe someone can assemble it on the computer and PDF it into a nice little online gallery/book.

would be nice :P
Kinoz 6 years ago
Yes, the plan is to make a book out of this. :D
Cassio Hui 6 years ago
got kinoz's address, will mail, probably monday
Kinoz 6 years ago
Got it. :)
Dr. Polaris 6 years ago
Nice. Very Nice.

Well how will we get the book?
admin
jnicholls357 6 years ago
I think snap fish might be the way to go through flickr..upload them, agree the book format then each can get a password to it and order their own copy online? Just a suggestion?
Kinoz 6 years ago
Which one is better? Blubr or Snapfish?
admin
jnicholls357 6 years ago
Pleased with snapfish, not heard of results from blubr.?
harragan 6 years ago
I recently used Blurb for a book of the family holiday. The cover and binding options are great but the quality of the printing is not as good as I'd expect. I've had better from other companies. I'm still indiscussions with them to determine if this is a printing error or their standard quality.
Dr. Polaris 6 years ago
If we had a solid, RL book, it'd feel much more real. Blubr looks nice, but with what harragan said, I have doubts :(
Kinoz 6 years ago
I think there's might be a problem with the printing, i haven't heard any complaint from my friend though. :D
harragan 6 years ago
Yeah, I've heard really good things about Blurb too, that's why I went with them. I imagine it's either a one off error or I'm too picky.
ǝɹɐɥoʎpuɐ 6 years ago
I've used blurb and not had any issues. I also know some very picky photographers who've used them too
Time Share 6 years ago
I have used Blurb for about 3 books now ... excellent quality every time !
