Transaxle (alias Toprope) ADMIN November 16, 2010

on 25 October 2010 'transaxle' was founded and I am delighted watching how fast our collection grows.
Many thanks to all!

P.S. If you notice something that spoils (e.g. a car that does not belong into our transaxle-range) please do not hesitate to post it.

Group Description

Picture-collection of transaxle cars with front-engine + TRANSmission at the rear-drive-AXLE (list of examples below).

One of the very first cars of this layout was the Lancia Aurelia (1950 - 1958) designed by Vittorio Jano.

It is generally done for reasons of weight distribution - ideally 50:50 front:rear - and is more popular on sporty cars.
