Group DescriptionDo you like to thump on railings, lampposts, and bollards as you walk past them? Found some particularly resonant or cool-sounding objects in your wanderings through New York City? Make a short video with sound and post it here! Your contributions will probably be featured on the Thumping Guide to NYC web site.
Your submission should be a very brief video that sets the scene and demonstrates the sound of the object when you hit it with a hand or fist. Publicly accessible objects only, please, and nothing that would get you in trouble! You can also contribute photos, but they should add context to a video. I encourage you to apply a CC license that allows derivative works, so that people can sample your thumps to make music without worrying about copyright stuff.
Please map your video and give a brief description of the location and what you like about the sound. If I use your video on the Thumping Guide web site, it'll credit you by linking back to your flickr name and video page-- if you want to be credited by full name, homepage, etc., just put that in the description of your video.
Feel free to add thumping videos from other cities!
