Or in a movie anyway...

Just thought you guys would get a kick out of this. A friend of mine (a filmmaker) and I are making a short film using shadow puppets on on projected backgrounds. This is something we played around with a few years back. At my suggestion, all the backgrounds are going to be TTV photos that I've shot.

The film is a Day of the Dead story, loosely based on La Llorona, a traditional Mexican ghost story along with elements from the Popul Vu and Meso-American mythology.

Since I'm the artist, I'm creating the shadow puppets as well as all the backgrounds. On my photostream are some oddly named images: House of Doom, House of Jaguars, etc. that are all going to be places in the film. We're setting the whole thing in a city and the underworld is some of the bad neighborhoods that I drive through to get to work everyday

I'm going to be doing a lot of photoshop work on the images, including putting silhouettes directly in them like this one:
House of Fire TTV
This is the House of Fire. The background is an actual TTV of a diorama of the Chicago Fire.

Anyway, thought you guys would be interested in seeing other fun things that are happening with TTVs

I haven't been posting many new ttvs this summer because my friend and I were working on the film mentioned above. It's nearly finished and you can see a little preview here:

Thought you guys might be interested in some updates for the movie I've been making with ttvs. The movie is now completed. Hubby (a musician) finished the soundtrack. My collaborator is going to do a couple of minor edits and it should be online to view in the next week or so. I'll post a link to it.
In the meantime, I'm attaching a couple of screen shots of the film. Much of the film is done straight with the puppets on the backgrounds. We also did closeups. In order to make the whole film unified, I made a "fake" ttv outline with my Anscoflex and my friend who's doing the editing, placed it over the closeups. Since these aren't real ttvs I'm not going to post them on the group page but thought you might be interested in how they look.
First is our heroine Maria meeting a girl in a cemetery:
Weeping Woman still

And a portrait of our skeleton character:

Not ttv related but a super short "short" that we made after we finished with the real film. My friend and I with the shadow puppets, done with a Lomokino film camera.
