The Tyee ADMIN April 22, 2015
Thanks to everyone for your fantastic BC Day photos! Some of the beauties that you uploaded have been compiled into this article, Your British Columbia. Keep up the good work! We're going to be putting together a "Best of BC's Terrible Summer" at the end of the month, so keep submitting your best shots.

Thanks again!

Group Description

Welcome to The Tyee's official Flickr group!

We invite you to post your photos of British Columbia -- show us your favourite images of BC, wherever you're located in this great province. And don't forget to visit us online! In the future, we'll select our favourite photos from this Flickr pool and feature them on our home page, as well as in our news and feature stories.

In case you are new to The Tyee, we are BC's number one source of independent news, media and opinion. In November of 2003 we began our swim upstream against the media trends of our day. We’re independent and not owned by any big corporation. We’re dedicated to publishing lively, informative news and views, not dumbed down fluff. We, like the tyee salmon for which we are named, roam free and go where we wish.

Since we started, we've attracted some of the best journalists in B.C. who have broken many important stories. We've published viewpoints banished from corporate media and shined a light on corners of the province Big Media ignores. Most importantly, we've provided a showcase for young talent, a political blog, innovative social media initiatives and a forum for readers who post their opinions after our stories. The Globe and Mail has said we publish "some of the best investigative reporting in the province" and we've been given honours by BC Business and The Webby Awards-- the future looks bright for independent media!

Group Rules

Pictures are awesome. Rules are boring.

So, we only have two. One, you must be the owner of the image. Two, pictures should be about or of significant interest to people in British Columbia.

No, that doesn't mean we're looking for the next Supernatural BC poster. Shots of sunsets, killer whales and mountains are gorgeous -- and we want those, too -- but we also want to peel back the Tourism B.C. gossamer and see what makes this place tick.

Keep in mind, too, that we may choose to display some of the pictures in this group on The Tyee home page (thetyee.ca), or as the art that accompanies our stories on our site or on social media.

Where possible, we'll endeavor to use your real name and give you credit and a link back to the original image on Flickr. If you'd like us to also link to a website or if you'd like us to attribute the picture differently, just drop us a line at info@thetyee.ca.

One more thing. Try to keep your daily posting down to 5 or less photos a day, as a courtesy to other photographers. Its best if everyone's photos get a chance to be on the front page!

Thanks for bearing with our rules. Enjoy the group!
