I went and did it!!

Was pretty sceptical when urbanmkr introduced the idea... but since she was serios about it I tried a few one-handed finger letters; went OK. Now, in a bored moment, I had a go at a two-handed finger letter: just me and the camera placed on my desktop. It worked!!! and I let the inspiration carry me away.

Nevermind if this turns out a slow theme, we've had quite a few quick ones recently.

Are you going to allow "alive" sign language letters?
admin
urbanmkr Posted 10 years ago. Edited by urbanmkr (admin) 10 years ago
No, I think that's too obvious. We could of course do a sign-language alphabet at a later point. But I see this one as making normal letters, using live animals, human and otherwise, or parts of them.

I'd rather not have plants, though. Plants are too easy. I think this should be strictly an animal alphabet. Cleo and I and our friends are ready! :-)

Yeah, I adapted the theme description part of the group description to this as well.

Well, since I can't post the B, anyone who cares is welcome to use the idea:

Sorry about the delay! thanks for the idea, Eva. C should be easy, no? a nice curve of some animate creature... Then we have Cleo as a D. I know mag has an F by his cat. Any Es in store?

Did a C - bring on the cats!!

I can't really see the D in Aristide's cat... there's always Cleo's D if Devi is really making a P!

i can't see the D in your cat either but as you think your's is better, just keep it!

urbanmkr Posted 10 years ago. Edited by urbanmkr (admin) 10 years ago
Well her tail is the back of the D, the white bit is the space in the middle, her back is the curved bit of the D... :-)
where's your's gone? let me take another look...!

i found an E. anybody else want to coax their kitty into making an F for us?
Eva the Weaver PRO 10 years ago
I don't have any pets; have checked that with some contortionism I can do a finger alphabet F - but that's getting sort of boring. Am on the lookout for a giraffe pointing with its foreleg (unlikely), alternatively a gull or jackdaw doing something F-like and willing to be captured.
Eva the Weaver PRO 10 years ago
How's it going with the cat coaxing?

Or should I?:

go for it, Eva!
Eva the Weaver PRO 10 years ago
OK, F is fingered - how about a G?
Eva the Weaver PRO 10 years ago
For G you could get one of your cats to sleep turned the other way round.

I've got a G! "Moi je peux te faire un G" said Héloïse. H now...
I've got a rather sweet J too.

K time!
Eva the Weaver PRO 10 years ago
A giraffe, anyone?
Eva the Weaver PRO 10 years ago
Now I wonder if one of the flamingo shots from this evening will yield some K-like arrangement of legs and necks...
Eva the Weaver PRO 10 years ago
Hmm, I think that just might work...

L - finger letter

Come on! What can be so hard with an L?

urbanmkr 10 years ago
sorry, took me a while there. I wanted to get some more exciting ones (à la H) but it might have to wait a few days now.
M

M: ought to be possible to find something like a flying bird ;-)
Eva the Weaver PRO 10 years ago
…or to go through the circa 300 photos from the Gothenburg half-marathon and find a suitable group of runners. I think thy make a passable M. If you agree it's time for an N.
admin
urbanmkr 10 years ago
excellent! I agree, time for N.

Only half way through this alphabet after over a month... How about giving us a break ;)
admin
mag3737 PRO 10 years ago
i had never considered temporary "suspension" of an alphabet before, but halfway does at least seem like an arbitrarily reasonable time to do it. we could just leave this half in the pool where they are, and when we are ready to try to finish, we can link back to the appropriate pool page so people can see what we have so far.

(linking to a numbered pool page is problematic normally, but in this case, during the time that it would matter, the pool page would not be moving, so it would actually work.)

martha? eva?

Yes, maybe we should do that.
