Teal, aqua, turquoise, jade, emerald.
I did a set of color picker screen dumps of the range we have in mind.

bluegreenblue and green

The very best range, hue values between 190 and 160 (left) might be a little bit narrow. On the other(right) hand, the absolute limits of pure blue, hue value 240, and pure green, hue value 120, seem a bit wide.

You can also check out the beginnings of the Cartel Color group intended for this range of colors.

It's not like I have a whole alphabet ready for this, but I did happen to have an A.
So Bb.

Js are always kind of hard...

well, i have this:
J
but it didn't seem quite aqua/teal/jade enough, plus we are already running at 33% neon (not that there's anything wrong with that, says the guy whose personal letter collection is >50% neon). but i will add it if y'all think i should.

or i guess if we get desperate i could make a cropped version of this:
Johansens Recommended
not a very pretty blue-green though.

I think mag's neon J is quite definitely on the green side. The squircled J is on a nice ambiguous background, though.

Well, I've been a bit slowed down here by some keyboard trouble. Am prepared to withdraw my I if that slot is easier for someone else to fill. Had the idea that J might be easier here in Sweden with all the Johanssons - but the best bluegreen I found was this, FUJIFILM sign (indoors in the mall, with the whitebalance set to lamplight)
J jade

But before I do anything drastic I will check Mag's two potential Js with the colour picker ;-)
Eva the Weaver PRO 10 years ago
Hmm. I have backed down the I. Let's see if this is easier.

It's Ii again.

Is my I's background green enough?
Eva the Weaver PRO 10 years ago
Closer to best range than Mag's blue background. At first I simply took it as OK, intuitively by sight, now I have checked the hue values in PhShp. Still had the values of Mag's two jotted down on my notepad - they're both within the permissible range, but since I had chased down a J where the letter is in the best range and the background within the permissible I decided to act on the plan of pulling back the I.

Now Kk

if the Kk doesn't fit, feel free to remove it :)

I haven't felt the need to check it with the colour picker. I think it's a very lovely, subtle shade.

Even if the saturation is low, the hue is right within the range of best fit.

my gut tells me too blue
Eva the Weaver PRO 10 years ago
It's not in the narrow best range, but it's well to the non-purple side of pure blue, background and letter both. I'd say go for it.

Hahahahaha!!
Me not using guts, me using color picker: I download a copy and check, in a case like this.
Was writing while Mag posted…

I wonder if it's time to nudge Leo to post this Y?

Monceau PRO 10 years ago
I took a chance on the dis-jointed Y in deep blue-green. Eva and mag, does it fit the color palette?

As we work on this alphabet, I'm more aware than ever of the differences among monitors.

my eye says monceau's Y is good, but my eye has been proven wrong before.
Eva the Weaver PRO 10 years ago
My color picker says its right within the best range - the top surface towards the bluey end, values around 180-190 and the sunlit side in the greenish end around 160.

But my eyes told me to write an appreciative comment on it, before I even noticed you-all weren't sure.
cutesmallfuzzy 10 years ago
Yeah, good one, Monceau. Leo lost his chance :)
