FYI for you anti-St. Paul people, Black Dog is a great place with beer, wine, coffee, pizza, and cake. Right now, they have a billion photos of musicians on the walls. We'll be there as the winter farmer's market closes, so we might face a SLIGHT crowd, but we should be fine.

And there are meters around, or a parking lot to the east of the Black Dog - I think last time it was $2 to park in the lot on a Saturday.

Anti-St Paul people. LOL!

Since I moved here in '93 I've lived in Brooklyn Park, Eden Prarie, Lino Lakes and now Stillwater. I love both metros. The only thing I'm anti is Brooklyn Park.

jeremy, should we up the time by an hour? 11 instead of noon? i just wanted time to wake up, get ready & get all the way over there ;). i'd rather try to avoid a crowd, though.

and sharyn, you better use a pen!

yeah, I honestly think it would be busier at 11 than noon. And since it's the winter market, there won't be too many folks there. All you can really buy at the winter market is cheese, steaks, and soap. And maybe good bread.

I would think the last day of the farmers' market would be lots of fodder for shooting.

Sorry I can't make No4. Up to my eyebrows with stuff to do that day, and I don't know that I'll be shooting at all.

BTW:
I have started a group for Twin Cities autocrossing shots. Check it out at www.flickr.com/groups/59772766@N00/

You probably won't get lost if you remember that the numbered streets are in order and some of them are one-ways.

My free set of moo cards broke their printer. Today they emailed me a "secret code" to get another set, but it will take 10 business days to get here. Maybe I could cut a picture into fifths, that's about the size of a moo card. And then five people could put them all together and summon Captain Planet.

Saint paul is easy because it's small, and you can always tell your directions. From the sprout of weeds known as skyscrapers, the Capital is north, the Cathedral's northeast, the River is south, and the other way is East. Lowertown is east of the weeds, West saint paul is south (don't question it, just love it) and there are 2 7th streets (one of which is old 8th, the other is sometimes called 7th place) and numbered addresses don't mean much. Still, I would much rather deal with this than figure out where 7th and 4th is.

Yeah. "In order". I'm sure there's a formula, but I never memorized the logarithmic tables.

When Minneapolitans and St. Paulites shake hands, warring factions put aside their differences, angels get their wings, and rainbows appear in clear blue skies.

We really should do this more often.

For the longest time I thought that a "yuppie" was someone who went "yup yup yup!" So I'm betting a "hipster" has nothing to do with hips ; )
ages ago (permalink)

mfshadow says:

Yuppies generally do say "yup yup yup" to anything that will help them finance their McMansions and their 5-series BMW so they can fit in with the other materialistic corporate sheep. Yee-haw. Hippies, on the other hand are very similar, but do very little financing of material goods to fit in with other materialistic-yet-conservative alternative corporate sheep.

I don't like labels. :)

timewise it makes more sense to eat afterward, if people want to do that. a snack while waiting for people to arrive is probably a good idea for those who usually eat at noon or otherwise have low blood sugar ;).

sharyn, absolutely. we won't wait beyond those 30 minutes, folks! if you come any later you'll just have to find the mob on the street ;).

HOARYHEAD says:

I had a great time on the photowalk and it was fun actually meeting the photographers of photos I have admired in the Twin Cities Group.
Just a side note, did you hear about the guy that assaulted a 12-year autistic boy in Kellogg Park Saturday afternoon? Well, the same guy was at the park when the photowalk group with surlygrrrl, Kaija, Bolobilly, me, etc. wondered through earlier in the day; he was the guy sitting on the bench with another guy snoozing on the adjoining bench. Bolobilly talked to him and took his picture. He had the photo posted to the Twin Cities group but has removed it by making it private for now. I now know why the guy creeped me out even though he was just sitting there doing nothing obvious to disturb me. Does anyone else remember him?

I remember the picture when I saw the article and looked and looked for it the picture and I thought Bolobilly took it-couldn't find it and thought I'd gone nuts. Bolobilly told us his wife and daughter took all of the good shots-and I thought his was pretty darned good. Too bad the walk wasn't a few hours later-either the incident might not have happened or there would have been 25 shots of it.
ages ago (permalink)

view photostream

Bolobilly says:

I've completely removed the photo for now, simply because it might or might not be used as evidence in a serious criminal case and it just seems prudent to not have it publicly posted until everything gets sorted out. I've been dealing with evidence-handling issues for many years and I just don't want to take even a slight risk of messing anything up here if it can be avoided. If the powers that be decide it's OK after they have checked it out, I'll happily repost it. And thanks for the kind word-I still think my close relatives are better photographers but it's always good to get a compliment.
