Temora Flickr Gorup Meeting June 6th 7th

Hi everyone talking with Mike yesterday we thought it might be great to organise a flickr "Temora Group" weekend at the next airshow June 6 and 7th.

So if you might be interested lets know. The more we have go the better.

I am going to see if i can contact the people at TAM and see if we can get access to the aircraft without the crowds or maybe a special postion to take our photos.

.....count me in!!

excellent that's 3 of us
admin
I've also suggested they might want to run a competition for the best photo of the day/weekend and the winning one i will get printed on to a large canvas and they can have it as a gift or aution/raffle it off at the next airshow. any thoughts?

...and/or a momento type book with a collection of images from all photographer participants, choices made via the 'streams here on flickr
admin
also a good idea, even for ourselves :) i've done a couple of books via Blurb and very happy with the quality

I agree with the idea for the day coming up - but there are some great pics in that pool - the first one with the Mustang to Hornet - - excellent pic!

WOW this Sound Like a Fun weekend You Can Count Me in Too :)
KumasanPhotos 9 years ago
As a newbie to flickr would love to join a week-end of like minded photographers.
admin
Hi all, well it sounds like we are going to have a good attendance. still have not heard back from TAM so i will try and ring them tomorrow. Remember let your flickr mates know and with luck this time i will have a camper trailer rather than a little tent. you know a little comfort does not hurt. I 've got to stress the late afternoon sun sets here are magic and if you can get a plane in silouette its pure magic

Hi all, well unfortunately the feedback I got from TAM was not overly enthusiastic and declined our request for special access., and basically as much as they welcomed our attendance no offer of special access or even interest in the competition was provided. (At least we asked)

That aside, it still does not stop us from going and having a great weekend. so rally the troops the more they merrier and bring plenty of memory.

This would have been great guys but I'm hanging out for when the Avon Sabre gets airbourne, if I go to this I will use up all my brownie points. Have a great time.

For those looking at memory solutions, have a look at a portable card reader with HDD. I use one and they are fantastic. Send a PM if you want more detail or search ebay.
admin
sound like someone got a thumb print, LOL pick the single guy. :)

well maybe we can repeat the gathering again

Its a 1400 km trip and all things going well I will be there, but I wont know for sure till after the 27th May so I will be looking to stay at West Wyalong at this time, or any other ideas?
admin
Hi fishertofisher great to hear.

My drive is not as far but still a five hour run. I'm staying at the camping ground onsite (cost is $5 or $10/night) hopefully I can get there Friday night that way i.m close to early morning late afternoon photo ops.

The camp site is well serviced with central BBQ/eating area 5 min to town. however this time no tent i will eaither get a camper trailer or mobile home. time to enjoy a shout myself some comfort.

So far that 6 who have indicated they attendance. If you know someone else please invite them and let us know here..

Not long to go now.

Craig

hi all well not long now to our weekend. Latest from TAM is that the RAN will be attending with a Seahawk and UH-1 Huey. So don't forget the more the better.

Also the engine has gone into the Sabre so it should not be too far off

Hope we still got more than three of us. Maybe time fora re committment note. :)

for those of you that have not heard the ADF air show this year will be in Townsville and good speculation is the USAF Thunderbirds (F16's) will be attending. According to their calender they will be touring the Asia Pacific area.. Now does anyone know where i can hire a 600mm lens from?
fishertofisher 9 years ago
3 out of 60 is poor but how many are close and make up their mind at the last second? For those who live inter state its a big trip. I dont care how many turn up so long as we who do have a good time, and can get some good shots. I will be there with my blue hat , badges of planes and shows that I've been to on, carrying a Pentex Z10, so you will know me. Looking forward....
admin
i'll be camping on site and will put a flickr badge on the outside of the tent so come over early and we can gather together. and we can gather afterwoods for debriefing and maybe a BBQ

No understand the challanges of getting there but the more the better

Latest from TAM:

Temora Aviation Museum’s rare warbird collection will fly again this weekend on Saturday 6 and Sunday 7 June 2009. The flying displays will consist of the Museum’s aircraft along with many visiting aircraft also!

Joining in the weekend’s action will be the Royal Australian Navy Historic Flight’s Iroquois UH-1B ‘Huey’ helicopter, and the Royal Australian Navy’s (RAN) Seahawk Helicopter, both visiting from Nowra, NSW.

The Huey helicopter was used extensively in Vietnam during the 1960s and was assigned to the 135th Assault Helicopter Company. It is no longer in service and is now based with the RAN's Historic Flight at HMAS Albatross. The Huey will perform flying displays both Saturday and Sunday of the Flying Weekend.

The Seahawk works in conjunction with RAN ships, to find, localize, and attack (where appropriate) surface or submarine targets, with the help of its radar systems and sonobuoys. This will be a first time visit for the Seahawk to Temora. It will only be visiting on the Saturday, so don’t miss it!

Visitors can also see displays by visiting WWII Harvard’s as well as Allan Arthur’s gorgeous WWII P-40 Kittyhawk. Five Royal Australian Air Force CT4 trainer aircraft from Tamworth will be in attendance throughout the weekend with at least one aircraft on display in the Display Hangar where you can see it up close.
Don’t be surprised if more visiting aircraft join in the show too!

It is expected to be cool this weekend, so make sure you rug up. And bring along a light fold-up chair for some comfortable seating. Temora Fire Brigade Captain Greg Matthews and his team, who volunteer their cooking services at Flying Weekends, will ensure a good supply of delicious hot food and drinks are available for purchase at the Museum's Mess Halls. Food items available include sausage sandwiches, steak sandwiches, hot dogs, pies, sausage rolls, tea, coffee, as well as cold sandwiches, muffins, and cold drinks.

If you need accommodation remember that there is always plenty available around the Riverina.

We look forward to seeing you here!
