Sociable Weaver (Philetairus socius)

Sociable Weaver

Just for interest sake, below is the communal nest that gave them their name. These nests often get so big and heavy that the tree branches brake. In the drier western parts of South Africa you will find several electricity and telephone poles looking like mushroom because these birds made a nest on top.

Grey-headed Bush-Shrike (Malaconotus blanchoti)
In Afrikaans its name is "Spookvoël". The direct translation for that would be Ghost Birds...this is due to the haunting sound made by this bird.
