That's an interesting link, James.

It looks as though it uses the month the photo was taken rather than the month it was uploaded to determine its eligibility, which is why I have a couple of fairly recent uploads in the list. If we do this on a going-forward basis, this should act as a good incentive to stop hoarding photos for so long before posting them - don't want to post so late as to miss out on the previous month's Top 10 list! :-)

LOL - you are right - it might help me out as well since I'm a chronic hoarder!
Congratulations Andy - your photos are exceptional!

This is a very nice feature for the group pool. Congrats to Andy, it is a fantastic hdr.

Andy, did your shoes dry off :-)

Thanks Bob... first off, I absolutely agree, this is a great new feature for the group, and not just because I happen to have done rather well in the first month :-)

This has always been a great group to contribute photos to, in the sense of knowing that you'll receive views and feedback, and that it's not simply a dumping ground for photos like many groups here. Having a fun monthly best-of chart, along with a "reward" comment against each recognized photo, really reinforces the nurturing nature of the group.

Many thanks to James for introducing the feature, and of course to Etrusco for developing it!

I know I shouldn't, but I took a sneak-peek at the March list as it stands right now, and it looks like it's going to be a good one, some excellent photos and new names, reflecting the encouraging recent influx of new members to the group.

It's also a nice feature over in NYC5, though (from my perspective at least) for a different reason. In SI Defined the volume of photos is fairly small and I generally see everything that's posted, while in NYC5 I drop in only occasionally. The monthly roundup was a great way to highlight some fantastic shots that I missed over the course of the month. One that I didn't miss when it was first posted was the #1 selection. Congratulations Bob, you're a big fish in a big pond! :-)

And as for those shoes... yes, they dried off fairly quickly. Removing the mud was another story, a good hour spent with a roll of paper towel and a sink of warm water. Fortunately they happened to be the shoes I'd least regret if I'd ruined them, but they're ok again now...
