On Wednesday, April 13, 2011 libraries across Illinois are participating in “Snapshot: One Day in the Life of Your Library” – our most important library advocacy event of the year. Participants collect and compile information, comments, and photographs from events in a typical library day. The results not only provide indisputable proof that libraries consistently provide invaluable services, but they also are an important tool in crafting the story of local libraries in the 21st century, and in educating decision makers at the federal, state, and local level of our value to the community.
Assembled to the right are various documents to assist you in publicizing and organizing Snapshot Day. Also included are documents to assist you in reporting your results and most importantly, using this collected information — statistics, photos, and comments — to establish or enhance your relationship with your elected officials and most important stakeholders regarding your funding.
In particular, please take time to review and follow the steps outlined in the document titled: The Four “C’s” of Success.
Please use the “Online Reporting Form (Survey Monkey)” to report your results. The deadline for completing the Survey is April 18. The success of Snapshot Day will be measured by our ability to use these results to advocate for support of library funding.
