Welcome to Shutter Bug & where are you from?

Keith McInnes Photography is a group administrator Keith McInnes Photography says:

Hello there & Welcome to Shutter Bug.
You have probably been invited because you have made a comment on one of my previously posted photographs or I have tagged one of your shots to be added to the group.
Thanks for that.
I am a keen snapper & have learnt so much by looking at other peoples photographs (getting ideas) or by reading numerous magazines, books, etc.
Have done some short courses to learn about using my camera (Nikon D90) better where I learnt that sometimes it is good to ask what others are doing or how they did it.
So this is what all this is about.
Sharing knowledge, techniques or tricks.
I will post from time to time what I have learnt or what I have found very useful but please feel free to contribute as this is only my point of view.
Again I am still learning even after quite a few years of photography.
If you like to share please help & we can all get better.
Feel free to make your own postings but PLEASE make it camera/photography related.
So I guess if you would like to add go ahead & maybe let us all know where you are from or where is your favourite place to shoot.
Thanks again & welcome.
Regards
Keith McInnes

I am in Sydney Australia & love shooting landscapes of which we are very lucky in Australia to have many different scenes to explore.

I'm just now responding to the invite Keith - got laid off from my job 6 weeks ago and am now feeling like I've finally unwound and can relax and get creative again, so thanks for the invite.

I'm currently living in the deepest darkest woods of Northwest Oregon in the coastal ranges. We're about an hour from anything resembling a town. I grew up in Perth, Western Australia. My primary camera is a Nikon D200 and I use a Nikon D90 as the sidekick body with a different lens when I go out.

Currently I'm a bit frustrated with the Nikkor 80-400mm 1:4.5 - 5.6D as it's too slow a rig for bird shooting which is one of my favorite photographic subjects. I've also been using an older 50-300mm manual focus Nikkor lens with a Kenko doubler, but the focus seems to be always a bit soft.

Hoping someday I'll find a 300/f2.8 or a 200-400 f4 with the right pricetag. Dreams!

Hi All. My name is Jack and I formerly lived in the Australian Snowy Mountains, or the High Country as it is often called; hence the name of my site - High Country Imaging. I'm now based in Sydneys west.

I have been taking photos since I was 7 years old; I can assure you all that was a very long time ago. I'm a die hard Nikon photographer and currently shoot with a D300; soon to joined by a D700.

I do minimal post process my images usually some minor cropping or very minor sharpening so what you see in my images is basically how they come out of the camera.

There are some great shots here so keep up the good work folks.
Cheers,
Jack

Thanks for inviting me to join the group.

I'm semi-retired and have been taking photographs most of my life, but the advent of digitail has renewed my interest. I love taking pictures from unusual viewpoints, or which combine information on many scales into the one picture. I use a Canon S2IS, and like its ability to do macro or extreme telephoto without changing lenses, and the swing-out viewfinder allows me to place the camera in unusual places. I also take some underwater pictures or pictures in the surf.

I'm Dave from Perh Australia, I will shoot anything anytime and use any tecnique so my photostreams a mess.
I use mainly a Panasonic FZ18 superzoom as i am too lazy to carry and change lenses on a DSLR and would rather spend the money on plane tickets anyway.

Hi,... I'm Lynda, from Ontario, Canada. I live in a small fishing village on the north shore of Lake Erie, and several of my photos are influenced by The Great Lakes.
I began imaging on a fully manual Konica slr in 1980, but I recently (finally) embraced digital.
I shoot with a Canon 5D MKII, and I'm still to busy learning the ins and outs of it to even begin learning post-processing. So sooc is my mantra.
I am fully self-taught, trial and error.

Hello everyone!

I'm always looking for new techniques and photography information, so I'll be keeping my eye on this group.

I am 24 years old and live in Springfield, Illinois. I have shot with a D70s for about four years and just added a D90 to my arsenal. I also shoot with a D200, a Canon 880 IS, and my iPhone.

I hope you guys enjoy my photos! I'm always looking for critiques (good and bad).

Hi Keith,
I'm from Scotland and am glad to be part of your group.
If it moves I shoot it and if it doesn't move I still shoot it.
I'm semi-pro but mostly take pictures for myself.

Hi everyone.

My name is Kate, I currently reside in Seattle, WA.

I've been actively involved in photography since the '80's, whether assisting or just having fun.

I shoot film and digital. I'm a Nikon person, owning a couple of 35mm slr's and a D200 (which I am hoping to upgrade soon, it's about 4 years old!). I also embrace lo-fi photography, whether with a Holga or more recently my iPhone.

Great to be here!

Thanks! :)

Hi everyone,

My name is Sheryl, I live in southeastern Michigan, about 1/2 an hour north of Detroit.

I've been trying to learn about photography for about 3 years. It's a hobby I truly enjoy. I think a lot can be learned by looking at other's photos.

Thanks for the invite, Keith.

SarahCate Photography says:

Hi! I'm SarahCate from Dallas, Tx.

I've been photographing seriously for about a year and a half. My technical skills are still a little lacking, but since I mostly shoot on Manual these days I consider that a big accomplishment... even though it means I have to take 2x as many shots of something to get the right shot.

But I'm learning, and loving the process. Thank you so much for the invitation!
