Group Description

Whether you live here, or were just passing through, this group is a place for San Diego County bird watchers to get together, talk about birds and share their birding photos and resources. I hope we can become a tight community of bird photographers, sharing ideas, info, and photos... after all, most of us live in the same area.

San Diego County, CA is a haven for all kinds of birds, year-round residents and migratory. The county contains many wildlife preserves and prime birding locations full of seabirds; shorebirds; birds of prey; and much more. You can find a list of San Diego birding locations at www.sandiegoaudubon.org.

In case you aren't sure, San Diego County includes an area covering SoCal coastal spots like Imperial Beach, Coronado, Mission Bay, La Jolla, Del Mar, Encinitas, Carlsbad, Oceanside, and east to Julian, Borrego Springs and the Anza-Borrego desert.

Remember: All photos, submitted to the pool, must be of wild birds, from within San Diego County! Photos of captive birds, zoo birds, birds from wild animal parks, or birds determined to be from outside San Diego County will be removed.

Keywording Tip:
Tag your photos with keywords describing the scene, such as "nest" if the bird is on a nest, "prey" or "BIF" (Bird In Flight). This will help your photos to be found on Flickr, and in search engines and really boost your photo views! Don't forget to tag birds with the scientific name, which you can easily find at All About Birds.
