For the information of all, let us post here the fleet (roster of ships) of the different shipping companies. Please split it into : passenger, cargo ships and miscellaneous ships (like tugboats, tankers, etc). If possible please distinguish fastcrafts and catamarans owned by the shipping company.

Fleets of cargo shipping companies can also be listed here.

Routes can also be appended.

Ang Cebu Ferries naman ay 3 barko na lang ang tumatakbo:

MV Cebu Ferry 1
MV Our Lady of the Rule
MV Our Lady of Mt. Carmel

I just wonder what makes them still claim that they are still the leading Cebu operator.

They have another vessel, the MV Our Lady of Good Voyage but it is on loan to Aboitiz because this company lacks vessels now after selling their 5 newest ships.

@mbb8356

both could still benefit from it..total,sister company lng nman ng cebuferries ang superferry

mbb8356 8 years ago
Kunsabagay. I'm just pointing out na nag-oversell yata ng barko ang Aboitiz. Ang OLO Good Voyage naman pati ay maliit, deficient sa passenger amenities at mabagal para sa Manila route.

@mbb8356
ganun tlga... cguro dala na rin yan nung plan nila na ibenta na ang aboitiz transport. as what uv discussed sa forums.

MV Lanao
MV Ramon Aboitiz

MV Cagayan de Oro
MV Baybay

But I have no idea what years and routes they served.

Luma na pala ang MV Lanao. I just based in on the MARINA database.

I heard that there was an Aboitiz ship then (about the 60s) na kung saan ang ruta ay umikot lang ng umikot sa isla ng Mindanao. Baka matanong mo ang lolo mo kung alam niya ito.
jrwes1dialup 8 years ago
how do you access the MARINA database?
admin
mbb8356 8 years ago
@jrwes1dialup

Unfortunately for us, 2 years after the fire that hit their main office the MARINA website is still down. The administrator then assured the public that all their records have duplicates. But I severely doubt it now.

I feel lucky now that I copied most of their data for passenger ships (but not the motor bancas). And I failed to copy the data for cargo ships.

Would you believe that their server is based in Pangasinan?! Now it seems their website administrator doesn't have a back-up. Government incompetence!!

This is memory lane. Most of the ships are older than any of us ha ha.

But I would be interested in their stories, why not? They formed part of our shipping history, paved way for the situation now. After all, we are still a maritime country.

Do anybody still have pictures of these ships?

jrwes1dialup 8 years ago
Elcano was the sister ship of M/V Legazpi. Exactly the same specifications. Both ships had economy and tourist class accomodation. Walang amenities ang both ships. except for TV, and the dining area for tourist passengers which is converted to a "disco" house during night time. Very slow, but back then passengers didnt really care whether the ship was fast or slow as long as they get to their destinations. I will scan my old pic and post it here..

Daima Shipping Lines fleet:

Royal Seal
Royal Dolphin
Swallow - 1
Swallow - 2

They used to have the ferry Our Lady of Mediatrix but she was burned when 2 bombs gutted the 2 Super5 buses aboard her in 1999.

All her ferries are double-ended ferries. They serve the short Mukas (in Tubod, the capital of Lanao del Norte) to Ozamis City route that bridges the narrow Panguil Bay. This ferry route obviates the need to go around the 3-hour detour via Monte Alegre.

@vpdsanchez

It seems some of the ship of Lite are listed under Danilo Lines. Nakakatawa kasi the ones listed under Danilo are Lite Ferry 1 and Lite Ferry 2.

Do you know more about this? I admit it is a "good strategy". When something bad happens not all the ships will be suspended. Unless the government sees thru it.
v@nzent 8 years ago
@mbb8356

as what ive heard, some routes of formerly known Danilo Lines are in Toledo-San Carlos City.. but then they were later on acquired by LITE Shipping Corp. LITE Ferry 1 and 2 are former Danilo vessels.Maybe thats the reason why they are still listed under Danilo Lines.
admin
mbb8356 8 years ago
A, okey. So now they are just really one? If Lite is Bohol-based, where was Danilo formerly based?

I admit that in newspaper shipping sked it seems the name Danilo is no longer listed.

My COMMENT:

Partially analyzing the data researched by 'goriob' I can see the ff:

1) There were a lot of Manila lines then.
2) Their fleets are not minuscule, normally having 6 ships or more.
3) More than half of the Manila lines have already disappeared.
4) Fleets of these few remaining are just a portion of their fleets in the expansion decade of the 90s.
5) About half of the ports of calls have already gone (in some places I have seen the sadness of these bypassed ports now).

Maayo Shipping operates an all-LCT fleet connecting Negros and Cebu on the southern end. It uses the ports in Bato, Samboan, Cebu and Tampi, Amlan, Negros Oriental (the Bato-Tampi route). Ceres buses use this connection for their Cebu-Dumaguete run.

I once travel from cebu to dumaguete via Ceres/maayo shipping and the truth is it takes 5 full hours ang biyahe and bukod pa dyan mas mahal ang fare nya. I discovered better one and that is Ceres liner from Cebu to Liloan, Santander. Then fastcraft to Sibulan ...travel time is less than 4 hours and the cost is lesser as compared via maayo shipping.

Name of Ferry Company:

Cuadro de alas

2 fast craft running (I can only name one): Santander Express

Good! I reposted your news in the discussion thread Updates. Maybe members should post there travel tips they might want to share. If there is enough traffic we might have to open a separate discussion thread (I am seriously thinking of that). Maybe we need that as travellers. @mcgutib: If you want to open it , it's okey with me. Even 'b00rdz' tip re Metro Ferry can be posted there.
romantic_guy08 8 years ago
@mcgutib

Yeah mas mahal nga since Maayo charges 60 pesos while sa fast craft its only 45 pesos the last time i took that route.

But the direct trip though is good if youre not in a hurry and if you have lots of stuff to bring...and if you are catching the last trip since 730 pm ata ang last trip ng fast craft...sa maayo naman until midnight sila...

I usually take the direct trip din before since its more comfortable and i dont have to fight for seats when we reached liloan...heheh

RN Hi-Speed Ferries, Inc.

Located at North Harbor Manila, RN Hi-Speed Ferries caters for local and foreign travellers bound to Caticlan (Boracay), and Panay Island (New Washington) only.
Its only vessel “MV FLORINDA” launched operation December 2002. The vessel was built in 1984. Estimated maximum speed is 27 knots, maximum 416 passengers. Its length under waterline is 5.83 meters.

Does anyone has experienced on board this craft?Or anyone has an idea of the whereabout of this ship? The last time I heard of this so called fast craft is April 2004.

And by the way I'm not quite sure if its appropriate to post it here or to the tread "fastcraft/catamarans", mv florinda although not a catamaran but according to the source she has a top speed of 27 knots..wow! But anyway RN High-Speed ferries belong to a Fleet with only one ship running as published.
admin
mbb8356 Posted 8 years ago. Edited by mbb8356 (admin) 8 years ago
I have heard of Florinda too before. But I have not heard about them lately.

Actually the MARINA database says they had 2 FCs: Florinda-1 and Florinda-2 which are sister ships and both made in UK in 1983 and 1985 respectively. At 62.5 meters length and 700 and 637 passenger capacity respectively they are big fastcrafts and probably bigger that the biggest of SuperCat.

However, in the MARINA database there is no entry for the engine manufacturer and its horsepower. Sifting through the voluminous garbage of MARINA which they call database I usually associate this data to ships that are already gone one way or another. MARINA has a penchant for listing dead or lost ships. This is precisely what I was warning Klas Brogren about. It seems MARINA cannot delete ships until and about a company letter arrives in their office informing them. One can not even believe 100% the engine, ship specs and description listed for I have noticed so many errors. GIGO talaga.

Google does not return any search. I guess she is no longer around. The database does not identify another ship that has the same specs as her.

I have not yet heard of your latter list, the ones listed under "out of service". Are they newly-arrived fastcrafts of Montenegro not yet fielded?
JohnMikeel™ 8 years ago
wow may bago naman fastcrafts yung MSLI???
talking MSLI, saan yung Maria Matilde magdock dito sa cebu???
bo0rdz 8 years ago
I think walang biyahe ang Montenegro dito sa Cebu.
admin
mbb8356 8 years ago
They have already pulled out Maria Matilde more than a year ago. That's why our photostream confirms she is already in the Batangas route.
JohnMikeel™ 8 years ago
anong route na siya??
i've heard that there's a MSLI ship that has cebu-masbate ba yun or some where in neg oriental.?? Its Reina Emperatriz???
JohnMikeel™ 8 years ago
pero saan siya nagdock during her stay here in Cebu??
sa Pier 4 or Pier 1?
Jeth! 8 years ago
@john_mikeel

There is Montenegro ship that serves the Bogo-Cawayan, Masbate route. There is even a Montenegro ship that serves Tabuelan-Escalante, Neg. Occ. route. As for Maria Matilde, i think she was docked in Pier 4 when she was still serving Cebu.
JohnMikeel™ 8 years ago
aww ok... thanks for clarifying @shipspotter
what is the biggest ship of Montengro now???
letada_jm 8 years ago

It normally takes 13 hours...

If you ride the 5pm Starlite RORO bound to Calapan, makakasabay mo rin ung 5pm trip na Maria Matilde until verde passage... then she'll continue on her way to Odiongan, while the Starlite will proceed to Calapan...

It is Joy-Ruby. Good update!
Jeth! 8 years ago
Yes, The ex-Joy Ruby is now Super Shuttle Ferry 15. She was docked and refitted in SSF's port in Pier 8.

mbb8356 8 years ago
Now we have to find SSF17 because there is already a SSF 18. I thought at first there are no more even-numbered SSFs when SSF12, SSF14, SSF16 and SSF18 appeared. I would assume there is no SSF13.
mcgutib 8 years ago
I think there was no SF 13... It was assumed by bussiness community that the number 13 is associated with bad luck.

We are still looking for the SSF17. But at 14 ships they already have the most ships among Vismin operators. And to think they are among the youngest.
By the way, is it true that SSF 8 (former NENACO's M/V Sta. Ana) was sold to the breakers?
