A thought - or suggestion - to the moderators. Can we go back to the idea that each month's competition has some kind of theme? Not that I have a problem with folk putting forward whatever they think is their best or favourite shot - but (to coin a phrase) it means the monthly contest loses focus, and becomes a collection of random images. Also, after a month or two the significance of a "favourite photo" gets devalued.

One advantage of picking a specific subject ("Glens" or "Lochs") is that it forces submissions from a narrower field while still showcasing wondrous aspects of our country's geography... or history, and enabling interesting comparisons and judgment. Now and again the idea of a conceptual or abstract topic (like "Celebration") adds the challenge of having to interpret and represent the theme in an image.

What say others?

Hi,

I go along Nairnbairn's idea. I think it is good to have that challenge and to see how other members respond to it.
