Note the rules including the MINIMUM SIZE LIMIT reflected in the group name - submitting an image that doesn’t comply with the three basic rules in the group title will result in banning. If you want to be readmitted, send me Flickrmail explaining the situation. See the group rules for more information.

Tip of the month:

Log out of your Flickr account and THEN look at your image. You will then see which sizes the moderators and other members can see!

Group Description

Please note the change of settings described here in the Flickr blog. Please check your settings to make sure that the moderators can see your original image.

Perfect Panoramas is a public group for showcasing your very best stitched panoramic images.

Please take the time to read our rules, your images will be deleted without warning if you do not comply with the six basic rules:

RULE 1. Your submission MUST be a stitched panoramic image. i.e., a series of images stitched perfectly together into one large panorama

RULE 2. You may only submit 1 image a week please. Even if your image is not accepted, please wait before submitting another one. If you fixed an image that was not accepted, then write a post in the "Post here to resubmit your image" thread for the current year, with a link to your image (small thumbnail OK), explaining what you did to deserve a new look. In this case, DO NOT resubmit to the pool. A group admin or mod will then review the image for admission to the group.

RULE 3. You MUST tag your images "perfect panoramas" those submissions without the correct tag are subject to deletion at an administrators’ discretion. Repeat offenders beware!

RULE 4. Your submission MUST be at least 3000 pixels wide along its longest edge and 1000 pixels along its shortest.
To be explicit - submissions made at:
2999 x 1000 will be REJECTED
3000 x 999 will be REJECTED
3000 x 1000 and above may be accepted
This image has to be visible to all members of the Perfect Panorama group: for this, either include a link to the full size image (file name ending in _o.jpg) in the description or adjust your image permissions. NOTE that if you have a free (non-pro) account, you need to host the large image externally, and provide a direct link to that image.
Failure to comply with this rule will result in banning (see note on banning below).

RULE 5. Submissions must not have borders or frames of any kind; very discreet watermarks are allowed at an administrators’ discretion - in practice this means almost all signatures are rejected. Failure to comply with this rule will result in banning (see note on banning below).

RULE 6. Little planets, stereographic, polar, and similar projections, will not be accepted. Same for nadir caps. (if you don't know what these are, you have nothing to worry about)

RULE 7. You MUST follow the rest of the rules!....

In the Perfect Panorama group we strive for.... "perfect panoramas". Your submission will be assessed for quality by a PP admin. This means that panoramas containing stitching artifacts, color banding, chromatic aberration, uncropped - missing image information or obtrusive dust spots will be rejected or deleted from the pool (some small dust spots in an otherwise perfect image may be allowed). Same for images deemed to be too dark (or light) to allow checking.

Please note: If an image is thought to be unacceptable for any reason by a group administrator, it will be rejected or removed until proof is provided via a polite comment in the relevant deletions thread.

To get an idea of the kind of things that will see your submissions deleted, check out May 2006's deletions thread or the deletions thread for the current month.

Below is an example of the kind of image that is likely to stay in the group...
Pompei

There are no limits on how many images make up a panorama, only 2 images? that's fine... as long as they are perfectly stitched. Please try to add technical information to your descriptions or in your comments. This group is intended for pano geeks... we love your nerdy info!

Banning. If you submit an image that does not comply with the rules that are in the group's name (see above) then you may be banned from the group. This is not meant as an insult to you and is not done from an aggressive standpoint, merely that it is a clear indicator to you that you need to be more careful with at least the basic rules. If you ask to be reinstated as a member then that will be done cheerfully. Please try not to make unnecessary work for the moderators.

Blocking a group administrator or moderator will also result in banning.

Welcome to the group, please make any suggestions you have for the groups administration in the discussion threads and enjoy yourselves.

All the best,

The PP group admins
