Looks like someone may have mistakenly grabbed my 50mm 1.4 and left their EFS 18-55mm in it's place in my small black Lowepro backpack.

Please check out your gear and let me know if you have my 50 and you're missing your 18-55. Thanks in advance.

I am missing a pair of silvered sunglasses that were loaned to one of the models as well. Not super critical that I get them back but nice.

That's pretty disturbing news. With the amount of time that's passed and no one having brought it up by now, highly unlikely it was 'mistakenly grabbed' at this point. Also disturbing knowing that my gear in my fancy case was pretty exposed that day and was just as vulnerable.

I know, "mistakenly grabbed" is wishful thinking, but yes, highly unlikely.

I was in the middle of shooting a show last night and reached in for it when the lights started getting too low for my other lens. So yeah, I won't be able to deliver on the last 1/2 of the set WHICH BLOWS cause it was a paid gig. I'll probably end up asking for only 1/2 the money.

I'm pretty wow'd over the whole thing; lenses can be replace ... I'm just irritated that it happened.

@daynatron: you should individually flickrmail everyone in your group asking them to check their gear.

That *really* blows. It seems possible it was an accident since they left a placeholder, but it does seem like they would have come forward by now and asked who the owner was.

My 50mm f/1.4 hardly ever leaves my camera, so I really do know how much it must suck to not have it!

Dayna, I was in your group but I never switched or borrowed lenses from anyone. It does seem possible that if you haven't noticed until now, that perhaps the other person still hasn't noticed (hopefully).

Otherwise, that is really disturbing! I would hate to think that any of the photographers in the group would be that dishonest. I hope you get it back soon.
Sorry to hear about this, this sucks. I would like to think it is a mistake, but yes, it seems a little suspicious at this point. I too had a ton of gear just hanging out and thought about how easy it would have been for any of us to lose something if someone wanted to do something like that being my first PDXS meetup (and first 40+photog meetup period). I hope the swapper comes clean after all gear is checked, I guess it is possible that someone has not gone through a camera bag yet, so they may not even be aware of it. Good luck with it Dayna.

Even though it's slim, I'm still holding on to the accident theory. We've got a great group (everyone's always banding togther and lending gear where others fall short, so it could've been an honest mix up) and you guys bring up a good point ... it took me this long to find out, so maybe the person hasn't realized they have the wrong lens with them yet. Heck, ended up with SeanMo's PocketWizard, so this could very well be the case as well.
*side note: Sean's PW told me the other day that it wants my gear bag to be it's forever home, Just messin' Sean ;)

@metake, yes I'll send out an email to the specific shooters in my group; probably should've done that at the same time I posted this discussion.
That really sucks and I hope it you get it back very soon.

Dayna, sorry to hear that your lens got swapped! That sucks hardcore! I don't borrow other lenses from others. I'm hoping you find it soon and hopefully its just like everyone says, that the other person just hasn't realized it. I hope you get it back soon!
