Some of you might be wondering why I'm posting this bulletin in the Strobist section. Well it's because a whole bunch of you know me and some percentage of that will be interested in taking a peek.

I have just finished posting a gallery of images I made at this year's 12 Hours of Sebring here:

Hey Ken,

Isn't it a summer event? I thought it was.

No the 12 Hours of Sebring is held every March and this was the 57th running of the race. It is the first race of the year for the world's most advanced Grand Tourismo and prototype cars and second in importance only to the 24 Hours of Le Mans held in France each June. Many of the other races for Le Mans cars are held at such legendary tracks as Nurburgring (Germany), and Spa (Belgium) as well as great North American circuits such as Road Atlanta, Road America, and Laguna Seca in California which hosts the final race of the year every October.

For many decades the sports car year traditionally started with the 24 Hours of Daytona at the end of January and while that race still exists, it is now part of a lessor sports car series and therefore no longer so important.

This year's Sebring was an all out war between Peugeot, Audi, and Acura in the prototype classes as well as a hard fought battle between the very latest in technology between Porsche, Ferrari, and BMW in the GT classes. It was all very exciting.
