Hey there - just found the PDX strobist group tonight so I thought I'd post an "Introduce yourself" type post.

First up I'm a novice strobist - I've shot precisely 2 shoots with strobes (and they were both impromptu family shoots) - but I gotta admit I'm hooked.

I'm not a pro photographer - I do it for giggles and personal satisfaction - I'm a database monkey by day. Which is nice as it means I shoot what I want when I want. I've mostly been shooting landscape / nature stuff thus far - but am more than happy to broaden my horizons.

You'll probably have a hard time understanding a word I say in person as I'm originally from Belfast and seem to have retained the accent despite 10 years in the US.

Some images in case people wonder what I shoot BS (Before Strobist) :

Four Elephants

More Elephants

Yet More Elephants

Hey I like Elephants OK ? :)

Looking forward to meeting you folks.

Welcome aboard! Nice work. I could never get any Haleakala shots as great looking as your capture, I especially like how you got the moon in there. I look forward to meeting you and all the other new people soon.

Will do - I'm out of town for the holiday season - but I'll pop in as soon as I get back and see when the next meetup is.

Looking forward to getting to know the local 'togs.
