Brews and views?

Are people interested in something similiar to what Seattle does?

How similiar? I don't know exactly what they do. My thought was a monthly meet some place where people can bring few photos to share.

What is the point? To share your latest work with other... Answer questions about your work... get critiques on your work... who knows.

Any thoughts?

But isn't that what Flickr is for?

@Sardonic G: thats what i was thinking, but it would be nice just to have a meetup where we hang out and talk photo, I could bring my projector and we could have a slide show or people could go over fun photoshop/lightroom tricks, etc...but this wouldnt really go over too good at a bar, but possibly at someones house..

There's tons of bars downtown where we could meet as a group, have a beer and a slice of pizza and go over photos... instead of a projector though, people could bring laptops and those who don't could just get a group of their shots together on a thumb drive and put them on somebody's laptop for group viewing and commentary. Probably wouldn't be hard to convince some of the MM models to come too, then we could get some downtown street scene shots too.
Actually.. here's what I propose. There's this bar called XV (roman numerals for 15, their address) on SE 2nd Avenue. We meet for a "pdxstrobist brews and views" meet up, get a few MM models to come, have a pint over some conversation and photo "show and tell", then go out in small groups with the models, do some shooting, then get back inside and go over what we have... over another pint, of course.
That way its a combo of the original "brews and views" idea and a "dinner and a photo" shoot. Limit the off camera lighting to one strobe (ok, maybe 2) to keep the amount of gear being dragged around to a minimum, we can help each other out by being human lightstands

Great Idea. I would like to do something like this during the evening. That way we could greet and eat before dark and then go take some night portrait photography in a city scene. Lots of good way to get creative with only "one strobe (ok, maybe 2)"

And modeling.
At night.

I'm game!
I'd totally be game...depending which night of course.

Laptops and thumb drives? I was going to bring old-fashioned physical prints.

When, where? Prints sound good too.

So what is happening with this concept? Let me know if you need any help pulling it together. It's a fine idea.

I'd go if I were free.

I like the idea myself. Also would recommend prints if possible, have passed around laptops for critiques before and it just doesn't seem to have the same punch as a really nice print, though if we shoot and view the same night prints aren't that practical.

I agree with Stefanie!

Sounds like a fun time to me, let me know when!
