IMPACT
= What is the Impact of a photo? What does Impact mean?
= IMPACT is what we're dealing with here in One Word Comment.
= The impact a photo has on you is how it makes you feel, what it makes you think of, the mood it evokes.

Examples: innocence, joy, sadness, love, sexiness, trust, tranquility... fear, surprise, turmoil, anger, cynicism, etc., etc.

The iMPACT of a photo is generally considered the most significant thing about it.

IF SOMEONE DOESN'T COMMENT
"Did Not Comment" (dnc) Icon
If you find someone that submitted without commenting, place the following code on their photo.

<a href="https://www.flickr.com/groups/one_word_comment"><img src="https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7014/6409397077_c8d008edc1_o.png" width="105" height="103" alt="flickr One Word Comment Icon dnc" /></a>

It will look like this:
flickr One Word Comment Icon dnc

If You See This Icon on Someone's Photo

- Don't give it your one word comment. Skip it and give your one-word-comment to an extra photo on the end.
- You may place another one of these did-not-comment icons on it if you find they still did not meet their one-word-comment obligation.

If You Get This Icon On Your Photo

Immediately fulfill your six comment obligation, plus for the next 19 photos that do not already have your One Word Comment with group code (25 total); then contact the person who placed the icon on your photo, and an admin, via flickrmail. Advise them you commented, and request clearance to remove the dnc icon. Removal of that icon without commenting will likely get you banned. Late commenters forfeit the right to request make-up comments and may not use the Missing Comment Thread for that photo.

FINE POINTS
1. If you feel one word is inadequate, you may give more words. But present each word individually, as opposed to part of a phrase or sentence. If you feel moved to write a more elaborate comment, go ahead. Just separate it from your "one-word" comment. .

2. It is recommended you don't peek at what others have written before you, until after you've made your comment. Allow yourself to feel the impact of the photo as if affects you, unencumbered by what other people thought. If it turns out a previous commenter used the same word as you, that's OK. It just means they felt similarly about the photo as you did. Just let it be because you were influenced by the photo that way, not by what they said.

3. Always use the official group code when you want to comment as a member of this group. If you don't use our group code, your comment is yours but not ours. Our sweeper will not recognize it. You will be considered to have not commented for the purposes of the group.

4. For maximum impact, and your greatest viewing pleasure, we suggest you view photos with the Slideshow (ensure Embiggen off) or in Lightbox view.

5. If you want more one-word comments, you may resubmit your photo, but only after it has left the first row of the front page.

Group Rules

One Word Comment is a comment group that sums up the Impact, or "feeling" of a photo in ONE WORD.

QUICK START
1. To submit a photo to get commented on, first make a one-word comment on the first six photos in the pool (the top row), plus any others of your liking, appending the Official Group Comment Code to all your group comments, which can be found prominently displayed near the top of the "About This Group" section on the front page.

2. Comment on any other photos in the pool at your own leisure and pleasure.

3. Allow at least six photos from others to post before submitting another of yours.

4. Violation of any rule may get your photo removed. Some violations may get your membership revoked or banned. Reinstatements can be arranged by commenting on photos, the number of which will depend on the violation(s.) Contact a staff member to arrange.

FINE POINTS
1. If you feel one word is inadequate, you may give more words. But present each word individually, as opposed to part of a phrase or sentence. If you feel moved to write a more elaborate comment, go ahead. But keep your "primary one-word" separate.

2. It is recommended you don't peek at what others have written before you, until after you've made your comment. Allow yourself to feel the impact of the photo as if affects you, unencumbered by what other people thought. If it turns out a previous commenter used the same word as you, that's OK. It's an indication the photo is conveying a strong and clear message.

3. If you want more one-word comments, you may resubmit your photo. But wait until it reaches at least page two before doing so.

4. Always use the official group code when you want to comment as a member of this group. If you don't use that code, your comment is yours, but not ours. It won't be recognized as having come from participation in this group.

5. For maximum impact, and your greatest viewing pleasure, we suggest you view photos with the Slideshow or in Lightbox view, which presents them full size on a solid black background.

6. If you don't understand the meaning of a comment...ask! It's OK.

GENERAL CONDITIONS (Comment Group Standard Conditions)
1. When noticed, do not comment non-commenters. Their photos are going to be removed by the sweeper.

2. Do not remove any comment, at least until your photo has reached page 2. Removing a comment makes it look like someone didn't comment. This can cause more work for staff.

2a. If you feel a comment is inappropriate, you may ask the commenter about it. You may also contact a staff member for review.

2b. If you notice someone has removed your comment on their photo prior to page 2, report it in the RVR thread or via flickrmail to staff.

3a. Promptly comment any of the required photos prior to yours that do not yet have your rating, at any time, upon request from any member or staff. *****

4. Don't block other members. If an issue arises with another member, you may contact a mod or admin to help mediate or resolve it.

4a. Don't block moderators or administrators.

9. Don't advertise anything or include spam with your rating. (Especially flickrriver, and especially any link to your photostream.)

7. This is an adult group. Tasteful, artistic nudes or implied nudes are OK. Tawdry, voyeristic type photos, pornography, or photos with profane titles are not desired.

8. The official language of the group is English. Correspondence between members and staff is to be made in English unless mutually agreed upon. Google translate provides a free online translation service.

17. Your are required to know all these Rules; all information on the Front Page, including any announcements in the Admin's Squawk Box when you visit; and the gist of any [Official] Discussion Threads.
