Group Description

A group for practicing the art of photography in & around NYC, inspired by the art and classes of Joe Holmes. This group is a little different than most, as the emphasis is on getting out there and shooting, and most of us have met in real life. This is a group for learning more about photography, about our city, and having fun while doing so. Please join us on our next outing, or invite us along on one of your own.

The pool should consist mostly of shots from our outings, or shots using lessons from Joe's class (or others that we've taken), so we can compare and contrast our different shots and shooting styles and learn from each other. Post only your best shots, or any troublesome shots that you would like opinions on how to improve. If you can't decide which is your best shot, start a discussion topic and ask! We'll give you feedback.

Newcomers are always welcome to the group, but this is not just a place to post photos - there are lots of groups for that. We expect you to participate in the group and our outings. We'd like to get to know you personally, and cultivate an active community of photographers in the spirit of fun, friendship and learning. If this sounds good to you, please hit that 'join' button. Don't worry, we're a pretty nice bunch, and many of us live outside Manhattan itself, so feel free to invite us on an outing in your neighborhood!

Group Rules

We are so glad you want to join our group. Please make sure that you post no more than 3 photos a day and READ the rules. You must be willing (and able) to participate in group outings in and around NYC to become a member.

If you need feedback on more than three photos, send a post to this discussion list for help including links to the photos you'd like comment on.

No nudity please

If we don't see that you live close enough to NYC to attend our outings, or if it's not obvious on your Flickr page, we will remove you from this group without notice. We're not being exclusive -- it's only that the purpose of the group is to meet in person. If you're not willing or able to do that, please find another flickr group that meets your needs/desires.
