How many of you will quit flickr if Yahoo introduces video?
I would probably. I need a clutter free photosharing website. Not a social networking website. The problem with bringing videos is that, Yahoo! management stops innovating and bringing new things to the Photography part of flickr. After all Flickr video is their new baby...
What do you feel? What alternatives wi...
It was only a matter of time before they "improved" Flickr.
Quick, name one person who likes any Yahoo!-only product.
Okay, name one Yahoo!only product. Flickr doesn't count, because A you're there and B Yahoo! didn't create it.
I thought so.
Flickr has always been a place for all kinds of photographs, not just for 'serious' photography. Neither is it a site which belongs only to the rich camera geeks with their big black cameras and pictures of detailed brickwork.
So I reckon just let others use Flickr how they wish and don't try to spoil it for everyone else by attempting to impose snobby restrictions.
There are lot of communities on Flickr already. Lot of people with different interests. So it's no surprise people have different opinions. And that's cool.
I think it's a good move for Yahoo (I said Yahoo), at least in the short run. There is also a big challenge for them: How to maintain Flickr differentiation and develop its value to its users?
I think we shouldn't just stop video appearing on Flickr (with the use of Dalai Clique type violence if necessary), but everything else "modern" too.
Everyone should be forced to use film cameras only, and even then, only those with no autofocus, built in metering, self-cocking shutters, or any advanced mechanical or electronic aids at all.
And no equipment should have...
I signed up for a Flickr Pro account so I could gain more functionallity and use of Flickr in general. I'm not crazy about videos being posted on Flickr, unless of course they are artistically shot and have some function or form that progresses the art of film making. If teenagers want to post themselves or their friends doing stupid stuff then this if a free country and...

An online Flickr atlas will be continuously updated with videos designated for public viewing, essentially giving visitors glimpses at what is happening around the wor...
Thanks for copying the petition over from our group, PLEASE PLEASE, if you are a member of BOTH groups, ONLY SIGN ONE PETITION... if we are to hand this in to Flickr, as is our intention, we can't have duplicate signatures on both petitions.
I emphatic with your frustration about videos
but getting 65 invitation to join this group in less the 2 hours is downright ANNOYING>
NO I DO NOT WISH TO JOIN AND I RESENT HAVING TO JOIN TO SAY
STOP SENDING ME INVITE
KINDLY REMOVE ME FROM THE GROUP AND FURTHER INVITES
I'm so glad to see that you started a group to rally against videos on Flickr. However, I'm wondering whether you all would consider also joining this group NO VIDEO ON FLICKR!!! . The more numbers we can pull, the better.
We're currently working on a petition to send to Flickr Headquarters.
Good luck in your cause!
