Upon reading the December issue of " The Railway Magazine " I was deeply shocked by a Headline about the NRM in York ... " NRM turns away from enthusiasts " ... reading on` it would appear that The Great Hall will be drastically changed and the Turntable will be covered over to make a bigger visitor area .. with many locomotives getting moved to other locations.

What are your views of the subject ?

There seems to be less and less things of interest there every time I visit...

I feel that there is a danger we cater too much for the occasional visitor at the expense of the regular visitor. There is plenty of opportunity for development at the York site, especially in the outside areas. I think a proper 1960s diesel depot (as per Stratford or Tinsley) in the yard would be popular. The diesels get a raw deal at the moment. Lottery funding should be made available to improve the outside areas and look at further development. This is the UK's no.1 museum.
I hear the Scotsman is on the turntable in black livery this weekend, anyone been or going?
i went on Saturday, quiet busy there
