Group Description

Annual International Festival ~ Festival International.
Bienvenue à Musique-Cordiale! Le Festival Musique-Cordiale a lieu au mois d’août dans le midi de la France, dans le merveilleux village de Seillans (Var), au milieu des collines entre Nice et Aix-en-Provence.

Musique-Cordiale is an international festival of music-making and song in and around the towns of Seillans, Callian, Fayence, Bagnols-en-foret, Bargemon & Mons in the hills behind the Mediterranean. It takes place each August and mainly features classical music (vocal, oratorio, opera, orchestral, chamber, instrumental) along with some jazz and other lively sounds - from sacred to sexy!

A pan-European choir was the core of the orginal Ensemble, consisting of good amateur singers from France, Britain, Switzerland, Holland and Germany who came together in a lovely setting to make music together. They enjoy a fortnight of rehearsals and a diverse array of concerts and soirées before appreciative audiences of locals combined with tourists and people who travel a long way to hear performances of a high standard. Directed by established or rising young international conductors, the variety of Ensembles now also include orchestras, consisting of professionals and a few good amateurs and promising soloists, many en route to stardom and heard early in their careers at the Musique-Cordiale Festival Musiques en Liberté. In 2009 and 2010, an opera, staged en pleine air in the medieval Place du Valat in Seillans, has been a musical and dramatical enhancement to the festival: Nozze di Figaro in 2009 is followed by Cosi fan tutte this year, both premiered at Musique-Cordiale to high musical standards by Vignette Arts and followed by performances in London.
