Group RulesWelcome to the Melbourne Silver Mine Inc.
We are a group of photographers based in Melbourne Australia passionate about film and traditional photographic techniques.
Unlike most flickr groups this group is maintained by a real-life organisation. The Melbourne Silver Mine Inc is a non-profit incorporated association registered in Victoria Australia
You are invited to learn more about our group or, if you wish, join us as a financial member.
Having said that, participation in this flickr group is open to everyone.
The one thing we require of all members is that you consider the purposes of the Melbourne Silver Mine when you participate in discussions or any other interaction with other members. Accordingly, any posts that you make should be in line with the reasons for our existence as outlined below:
- To encourage and promote the continued use, unique features and appreciation of traditional photographic techniques and equipment
- To assist in the exchange of ideas and enable collaboration on projects which promote - the continued use of traditional photography to the wider community.
- To support the use of contemporary technologies in order to achieve these purposes.
Should you ever feel that discussions have strayed from these purposes then please contact one of the group administrators or email us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Any participant who does not behave in a manner in keeping with the spirit of these rules or flickr's broader community guidlelines risks being suspended/banned from this group.
Adding photos to the group pool:
We welcome all photos shot on film (or any other non-digital source) taken in the greater Melbourne region anywhere shown on the map below will is fine.
Please feel free to add additional information about the camera, technique or processing information to the tags or description of your photos.
if you have film shots taken outside of Melbourne then you are invited to add them to our Out Of Town pool.
Any photos not in line with these rules may be removed from the pool.
Do you have an event you wish to promote?
We are happy to help you promote events that are relevant to our community provided they are consistent with Flickr terms and conditions and are:
1. fundraising or volunteering opportunities for registered charities and/or not for profit organisations;
2. local, public events that are supported by government or agencies;
3. social events; and
4. special interest groups or events that involve MSM members.
We ask that any post regarding an event include a link to any terms and conditions applicable to that event.
Unfortunately flickr are quite strict on policing "commercial use" on their service. They take a quite broad definition on what constitutes commercial use and this includes selling your personal photographic equipment or services. Unfortunately we have no choice but to remove posts of a commercial nature should they appear in this group.
Is there something you think we should be doing?
If you are organising or are aware of an event that is relevant to us but doesn't fit with these requirements, please contact us anyway as we may be able to help you get in touch with people via another social networking method.
Likewise if you have an idea that we should be doing or wish to approach the committee to discuss assistance with an event then please get in touch.
Thanks for joining us.
