My granddaughter is highly allergic to dairy and peanuts. She has been taking a standard bento for lunch and that has been working well up to this point. However we just got back the results of her allergy tests. We now have to add beef, pork, wheat & corn to the list. She is six so a full size Mr. Bento is not right. I'm looking for a smaller, child size jar that will have as many leak proof containers as possible. Any Suggestions?

pr even a laptop lunch... but leakproof containers, you usually only ever get one guarantee on that!?

A mini-bento is just the the right size for a child, and colorful taboot. It's also carried with the containers facing upright, so there's less chances of leaks ... because as far as leak-proof-ness, you're going to have a challenge finding any lunch jar with more than one soup container.

I've never seen one of these in person so I don't know how the size compares to a Mr. Bento, but Tupperware makes their own version of a food jar, and all containers have lids.

Just to clarify: ALL Mr. Bento type lunch jars have lids on ALL containers ... it's just a question of whether the lids screw down to securely hold liquids like soup.

I actually have the Tupperware one. I just got a few days ago and haven't tested how warm it will keep foods. I'm going to be trying it out on Monday. I like a lot of soups and stews during the winter months. Water tight was important to me but ablility to remain warm wasn't as I have access to a microwave.. But I'm looking for something even smaller than that. I'll look into the mini bentos. Thanks Everyone! 11 years ago
pagesnme, I have the Tupperware "bento" set and I've been using it for a while. The cups are smaller than a regular bento, and you don't always have to use all four cups - I often use only three and the lids are definitely leak-proof, as long as you make sure the "vent" lid thing is all the way closed.
