Here is the full info:

DEUCE SEVEN: Opening Friday, November 10th from 7-10pm at SOO TOO (within Soo Visual Arts Center) 2640 Lyndale Avenue South, Minneapolis

Don΄t miss this! Works on paper and masonite by 27.
From electrical boxes to garbage dumpsters to trains, the character driven work of street artist 27. delights, amuses and sparks controversy. Using such varied techniques as grease markers, wheat pasting, spray paint and brushes, 27. creates a romantic world of train-hopping, fishnet stockings and marvelous creatures.
With his most prolific work existing mainly on the sides of boxcars traveling the Burlington Northern Railway, this exhibition is a rare chance to view 27.΄s intricate and detailed work not rushed by the darkness of the night.

definitely awesome...for me it wasn't quite the same as randomly coming across one out in the real world, but it still completely rocked!

He was a nice guy too. Always nice to discover. And he thought his work was priced high. Ha!
SurlyGrrrl 12 years ago
it would be nice if more art were accessible to po' folks like me, but i think he deserves every penny.

i met him at intermedia arts last month & gushed over his work then. he seemed entirely uninterested in hearing it. i took it as perhaps a bit of embarrassment.

speaking of accessible art, brian & i noticed your prints last night, sean. nice to see you get around ;).

Oh, I'll be paying this off for a while.

But I think when you campare it to some other work out there, it is still very low. The size shouldn't always affect the price but it does and something like this might go for 3 or 4 thousand somewhere else. And he clearly spent a lot more time on this that some of the abstract crap out there that people are charging crazy amounts for. The stupid mall of america has those ridiculous "hand embellished giclee (they're fucking inkjet prints, people) on canvas" things for 2 thousand dollars for something in this size. That's the crap that is way overpriced. And people eat it up. Like you said surlygrrrl, this is worth every penny, and more.

...yeah! And those giclee prints only have a lifespam of 60 years at the most...not even a lifetime?!
tubes. PRO 12 years ago
Not sure, no one really knows. I sell them although I'm doing pretty much all screenprints these days. But I sell them numbered for no more than $25 each for a 5 by 7 on archival paper and in a mat and even that seems high to me! I've had other artist come up to me and ask why I'm not selling them for at least $100 like they do. Well, because they came out of an inkjet printer and there are 100 of each of them! I'm sorry, but people need to get over themselves. Yeah, the prints are nice and I buy really nice paper and mats and even the tape is "archival" and sign and number them but it is still a mass produced item, even if it is a small quantity. And it really wasn't handmade the way a screen print is. Even though one might argue that those are mass produced as well. Ok, end of rant.
I'm not a very good salesman, am I?

aright... im highly fucking disappointed i missed the opening...

but how long is his stuff gonna be there (if it still is), and is there even enough of it left where it would be worth going to?

All of the art for the show will hang for as long as the show is scheduled. You don't take the art home with you after you buy it, you pick it up after the show is over.

It's supposed to run into late December so you have plenty of time to check it out. The place looks really good now that they added that new room. That big room was hard to fill and now they can have multiple things going on at once.

i had a friend who worked at a thomas kinkaid gallery in san francisco about 10 years ago & i was appalled to learn that it was all reproductions, "hand embellished" by people like my friend, who were simply retail employees.

Hey, don't knock TK. He's the "Painter of Light".

Wait. Isn't every painter a painter of light? I mean, without light, you wouldn't see anything and the canvas would be blank. So basically his slogan is total b.s.? Seems so.
