Mid-Atlantic Hiking Group ADMIN September 30, 2016
Here are some pics from our 2nd annual MAHG 41 AT Trail Challenge which is a one day hike of all 41 miles of the Appalachian Trail across Maryland. It is an event to support the charity and help spread awareness of our mission. I am amazed at how well everyone did, and no, I did not hike but rather volunteered to help support the event. It was a ton of fun and thanks to all participants, donors, and sponsors for an exceptional event - Kellie
Group DescriptionToday’s fast-paced and technologically dominated society can take a toll on a person’s psychological, physical, and emotional wellbeing. Many people are trapped within an indoor and plugged-in lifestyle that is overwhelmingly stressful. Mid-Atlantic Hiking Group promotes reconnecting people with nature by getting them outdoors and “unplugged” to decrease stress, get fitter and healthier, and get inspired!
Current Charitable Initiatives
Improving Health for our countries veterans and measuring the outcome- We have an initiative for veterans to participate in a series of hikes along the Appalachian Trail. The program is much more than just a ton of fun out but is also part of a study to show the effects of hiking on the various areas of health.
Hoods to Woods - We also have an initiative that provides underserved youth learning opportunities using natural classrooms and incorporating natural surrounding into S.T.E.M. education that makes learning a ton of fun!
