We are in desperate need of your help to locate ex members of our unique unit. We are a new association started in October 2008 by former dog handlers Eddie Shinton and Mac McClinton of the Army Dog Unit Northern Ireland.
We are searching for any ex members from 1973-2007; so far we have found 220.
Our aims are to put ex members back in touch with old friends, this has been ongoing since day one. For the ADU N.I Association to take part in the Cenotaph march past on Remembrance Sunday, we have now been recognised as an official contingent to take part in the march past in 2009. To self fund a Memorial to the handlers and their dogs who died in Northern Ireland working for Army Dog Unit, we have received donations of over £2200.00 to date and our application has been totally successful and written confirmation has been received from the National Memorial Arboretum and the Ceremony will be on the 1st August 2009 at 2.00pm. And to organise a reunion in 2009 for all ex handlers of ADU N.I, this is in the process of being organised now.
We would be very grateful if you could print our letter and any ex members can either log onto the website www.armydogunit-ni.co.uk or email pressliaison@armydogunit-ni.co.uk or they can write to me;
