30th Build Challenge...The Discussion Thread

view profile

Lino M is a group administrator Lino M says:

This is the shared discussion thread to go with BOTH teams. Use this thread for your questions, comments, praise and other chatter. As we are sharing this thread with both teams, please do not use it to brag about what you are going to build as that will only detriment your team.

Also, as the challenge unfolds, other Lego related companies, Bricklink stores, and individuals can sponsor this challenge with discounts, services, schwag or donations. Contact any of the Team Captains (Lino M, Mad Physicist, Proudlove, Rabidnovaracer) to find out how, but keep in mind that your services are designed to benefit an entire winning team, not an individual. Once finalized, your services will be added to this discussion thread.

Ohhhh, how convenient that multiple entries might help your team win and that Lego 911 falls right into the A-M team. Well played, team Lino, well played!

Let's go, Zeto and Raphy, show those L-oosers who's boss!!!

Oh, and by the way: Awesome!

Thats what I like to see...lots of spirit on both teams and everyone wanting to do an awesome job. What's more important than saying you're going to kick some ass is actually doing it. No matter who wins this thing, the ultimate goal is success of this challenge and long term success of LUGNuts as a whole.

Now that I got that lovey-dovey hippie kumbaya campfire song bullshit out of the way, Team Nathan is going down in flames! Team Lino will annihilate Team Nathan! YEAHHHHH SUCKERS!!!

Hey y'all, so if you don't mind I'd like to jump on this one. I built my vehicle months ago, then finished it up a few weeks ago, and took pics right before the end of March. Mind if I put it up for this challenge? As once again, I am 2700 miles away from my bricks and this is the only chance I'll get.

Best of luck to you all

I got a good one just for this challenge. It'll be done in about a week or so.

... I know its random, but I don't care.

Were gonna kick some ass!

Ed Bricks...The rules state that you can't change your name in the month of April, so that would be breaking the rules. And yeah, we know each other's work pretty well even without a signature so it wouldn't work out, I wouldn't think.

Here is your usual mid-month reminder. Lets show the world this can be the best challenge ever. Remember, its quality that counts, not so much quantity, so don't load either thread with crap just to get a prize. Poor quality will count against a team so keep that in mind. Team Lino, you're going great. Team Nathan, you still have plenty of time to turn this around. Show us that you still have some fight left in ya!

Good luck everyone!

I finished mine last night, it's far from what i originally set out to do. Without giving too much away, I went from having 4 wheels to only having 2. I'm very happy with it, and it'll bring some more diversity to team Lino.

I still have a few detail touches that I wanted to try out, but otherwise its ready to be photographed and uploaded.

Lino M is a group administrator Lino M says:

Thanks for participating everyone! But alas, no matter how cool your last minute entries are, the time has come for me to lock both team threads. Everyone please be patient and hang tight for a few days. Your team captains still have to officially vote and once determined, our verdict will be made public here. Tomorrow at the SEALUG meeting, I will be collecting funds from Brothers Brick to be made into Lego.com gift certificates for the winners. I will probably add funds to the pot myself and I may try to negotiate with other individuals for more.

Once everything is settled, and a winning team is determined, I will contact the winners with instructions on how to collect your various prizes.

All this will be top priority and takes a lot of work, so please don’t bug us about the blog round up right away. The round up will come in due time. I promise.

Once again thanks for participating and thanks for making LUGNuts the best Lego group online!

Lino M is a group administrator Lino M says:

Sorry to keep you all in suspense, I was away from my computer for the entire day. The decision was much harder to make than you'd think. Team Nathan has really stepped up to the plate and there was a couple of entries in the 11th hour that were phenomenal. They fought hard and played well...and even as captain of the opposing team, I was floored by the high quality of their work. Everyone on Team Nathan has a lot to be proud of.

But the votes have been cast, the decisions made and...

Congratulations, Team Lino!!

Multiple entries from some star builders and high participation and enthusiasm put Team Lino over the top. The other team captains can vouch that my wildest expectations accounted for about 20 individuals with maybe 35 MOCs on a winning team. Team Lino exceeded my expectations with a staggering 61 MOCs from 30 individuals!

You may have already seen Tim's generous offer with his store Brea's Best Bricks. He is offering his 30% discount to absolutely everyone who participated in this challenge, regardless of what team you were on. Follow his instructions on the other thread and he will get back to you so that you may begin enjoying your discounts immediately.

For the winners on Team Lino, please be patient. I met with the good boys (and girl) from Brother's Brick today and they had forgotten to bring the check for your Lego.com gift certificates. However, they will mail me one and I'll receive it in the next day or two. Also, as participation far exceeded my expectations, I will add to the pot myself and possibly negotiate with others for more funding. The exact amount you will receive in gift certificates is unknown right now but I am working towards getting you all a reasonable amount. Stay tuned for more on that regard. Once that is settled, I will email each of you with directions on how to obtain your gift certificates and other schwag from Bricksonwheels and Heather Legogirl.

Once again, thank you all for making this group the raging success it has become. We are truly the standard for other groups to follow and I have you all to thank for that.

Go Team LUGNuts!

Attention All Team Lino Winners!!

I'm still waiting for funds from Brothers Brick. But in the meantime, will you please write to me in my flickr inbox as soon as possible and tell me two things:

1. Your email address that you'd like me to send your Lego.com gift certificate.

2. Tell me the country you live in.

In the subject heading, will you please write "Team Lino winner" .

I will use these emails as a checklist and the subject heading will help me return to your message later if needed.

I will work on getting your gift certificate to you as quickly as possible. Please do not simply write your email and country here as that increases your chances of being overlooked.

Thanks

Lino

^flickr mail will not do. The lego.com gift certificates only work by email. If you have no email account, let me know in my flickr inbox and I will try to make other accommodations for you. Having an Email is easier for me so I better not get a ton of special requests.

^ You do not need to let me know the city you live in at this point. Only the country. I am requesting this just in case your particular country does not allow email gift certificates on lego.com or my dollars can't be converted to whatever currency your country uses.

To all team Lino winners!

By this point, everyone who has responded to my mass email sent yesterday has had lego.com gift certificates or paypal funds sent to them. Check your email inboxes, they should get to you within the next couple of hours.

More than half of you are accounted for. The rest of you, read my flickr email carefully and respond with your decision and proper information.

Incidentally, both my cellphone and landline are ringing off the hook with inquiries from my credit card fraud protection department. They just can't believe that anyone in their right mind would order 30 gift certificates. ;)
