China can be hard on a laowai... and even harder on camera equipment... what gear do you guys find useful when you're out hiking around? Same in the city?

Cool as it would be to have a nice SLR, I still think I'm getting 90% of what I'd like to with my Canon PnS. And since I'm shooting more video lately, it's nice having still and video capability in one place.

The one add-on I use is a cheap little tripod I picked up at a camera shop in Seoul. It's meant for planting the camera on a table, but I use it mostly for hand-held stabilization. With a light grip, it gives just enough counterbalance to steady my shots while moving.

Hi, I am using a Canon 40D with a 70-200mm 2.8 IS, a 100mm 2.8 macro, a 17 -40 mm L, a 50mm 1.8 and the 17 - 85mm kit lens that came with the camera. I still hope to get some more lenses when I strike it rich here in The PRC and a full-frame camera as well. I also ave my eye on a small compact, like the G10. I love the look of film but I am never gonna' have the time or energy to deal with it.
