Come along with London Flickr Meetups to Herne Bay.

We are fortunate to have a Flickr Member from Herne bay who has offered to be our guide for the day.

We will be catching the 9:52am from London Victoria arriving at 11:26. In the message thread below we can talk about organising the train tickets (Four for Two ticket offers) nearer the time.

I suggest we meet at the station at 9:30am so that tickets can be sorted out with plenty of time.

Around 9am I will be at the Weatherspoons (pic below). You are more than welcome to join me for a tea/coffee on the balcony before we leave.
Fwd:

Please register that you are coming at www.meetup.com/flickr/London-Flickr-Meetups/866222/
Date: Saturday April 13th
Time: 9:30am at London Victoria (Near the ticket office or at Weatherspoons).
Tag Photos: Meetup:eventid=866222

As usual all under 18's will need to have an adult to be responsible for them.

Quick Qn - I'll be bringing +1 (possibly +2) and need to know if the train tickets will be bought in advance or on the day?
kemal atli 4 years ago
Would it be cheaper to buy the tickets in advance?

kemal atli:

Hi
Yes it would possibly be cheaper but people normally do the 4 for 2 deal on the day. This also means that if it is called off because of rain then no one loses money on tickets they don't use.
admin
Paolo G PRO Posted 4 years ago. Edited by Paolo G (admin) 4 years ago
Yansk!:

I would do a three/four for two deal on the day. The only thing is that you all have to travel there and back together.
kemal atli 4 years ago
Four for two deal sounds good, I guess we will be travelling back together anyway so it should be OK. I checked the train ticket prices today, off peak same day return ticket is £26.70. would the 4 for 2 price be calculated on that base? Sometimes it is so hard to understand the train ticket prices.
Kathryn Choi 4 years ago
Advanced tickets tend to be at their cheapest 12 weeks before the date you want to travel on (I had a look into this when I was considering getting my train ticket to a conference in advance) and I think you have to specify which train (i.e time) you are booking the ticket for. Going for the 4 for 2 tickets on the day gives you more flexibility on which trains to take there and back.
admin
Heart & Soul PRO 4 years ago
well I'm coming by train I think since the cost to drive there is around £30 or more there and back.

Hi all, I haven't been to a meet up in quite a while but I'd like to join for this one. I was thinking of driving there though as I'll be bringing a friend and after splitting the cost of fuel this will be a cheaper way of getting there for me. Can I meet up with you guys at the train station at the other end or is there a better place to join the group?

Hi. Just turn up at Victoria and look for me.

as a fellow organiser and admin welcome to all new people. The more people the merry.

We will be leaving promptly for the train.

To everyone if for some reason you can't make it please make sure you at least post here. With such a large group and many new people it makes is much easier for the organiser to make sure all that are coming are here.

If the weather is like that which we had this weekend then it will be good enough for me. Having said that let's keep an eye on the forecast as there is some rain due this week.

I didn't originally put the return trip times.
04 and 33 minutes past the hour until 19:33. After that you trains leave at just 33 minutes past.

Remember that if you agree to join up with three others on a four for two ticket deal you will have to travel there and back together. Please come to a friendly agreement on the time you wish to return.

Depends where you look for the forecast - AccuWeather has the rain gradually building up all day, but Google, The Weather Channel and BBC all seem to think it won't hit until at least 2pm. Let's hope the latter are correct!

I'll be driving, so see you all outside the station at 11:26.
